OCBC buys new China HQ in Shanghai for $182m

WRITTEN BY THE EDGE

MONDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2011 22:04

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Eastern Realty Company Limited (ERC), has bought the SIG Plaza Co Ltd for RMB 310.7 million (US$48.61 million) in cash.

ERC will also pay RMB 591.3 million of existing net shareholder loans, bringing the total acquisition cost to RMB 902.0 million yuan.

OCBC Bank intends to use the building, which has an gross floor area of 23,148 square meters, as headquarters for its banking operations in China.

The relocation of the head office of the locally-incorporated subsidiary in China, OCBC China, from its current premises at One Lujiazui, 68 Middle Yin Cheng Road, Pudong, Shanghai to this building is targeted to take place in the fourth quarter of 2012 and is likely to take up almost the entire available space.

ERC purchased the China-incorporated company from Shanghai International Group Assets Management Co Ltd, a special purpose vehicle owned by Shanghai Municipal Government.

Wow! You are brave! If OCBC cannot stay above $9.32, the chart will look very scary.

I would say look for confirmation signal tomorrow for a possible long trade.

The even number (10.0) should act as a resistance as well.

Nevertheless, the banking stocks (trading in US) are getting a bounce off the lows made yesterday.

Good Luck on your trade :p
