Ionescu trial begins today, Singapore envoy to attend
Singapore says the trial of former Charge d’Affaires Silviu Ionescu in Romania, which begins today, is an important step forward in ensuring that justice is served.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement yesterday that its Special Envoy to Romania, Ambassador Anil Kumar Nayar, will attend the start of the trial.
Ionescu has been indicted by Romania’s General Prosecutor’s Office for homicide, and is also accused of causing physical injuries and making false statements.
He was arrested by the Romanian authorities in May, for allegedly hitting three pedestrians while driving a car belonging to the Romanian Embassy in Singapore. One of the victims died. Ionescu has publicly denied he was the driver, claiming the car was stolen.
The MFA has repeatedly called on the Romanian government to “ensure that justice is served and seen to be served” in the case.

AK acc it again at 115,117 n even 118, after few matches of WC in June n Jul. Of course didnt neglect GAR n Yangzijiang as well.
For Gent Sp, up one cent got one mth supply of Carlsberg liao. Today up 3 cents , siao liao, drown with beer. Cheers.

Goldman Sachs also lifted its target price for Genting to S$1.15
from S$0.79, due to better-than-expected profits from its new casino
resort in Singapore, Resort World Sentosa.
The bank noted in a report that Genting has been able to retain a
majority share of about 60 percent of the Singapore gaming market in the
second quarter.
"While we think Marina Bay Sands is undoubtedly a far more
spectacular property, we believe the U.S. operator has shown itself to
be a relatively underwhelming competitor so far," Goldman said.

Tour bus to Resorts World Sentosa casino crashes
Thirty tourists from China in a tour bus heading to the Resorts World
Sentosa casino were sent to hospital instead after their vehicle
slammed into a pillar, reported Sin Chew daily.
The bus went out of control at noon on Friday at the casino car park.
Two tourists suffered broken bones and had to be hospitalised.
It was reported that the tourists, including five children, were from the Shenyang, Jilin and Shandong provinces.
The visit to the casino was part of their 14-day tour to Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
