I thought this is what I have said.
My point is the announcement is worth 15761 bytes lor. Not much comfort for those who are vested.
There is a 2000 views roll on this thread today alone. I think quite a many are affected.
Is it just a portfilio adjustment by BB ? For so many months ? Is it cheap enough alreadi ? Is there something wrong ? Wrong where then ? What about that Viet RE VP who wrote poor essay ?
But no announcement......
Simply out of topic/point.
Anyway, not vested. Will think of vesting if everything is clear up lor.....

The announcement may be timed to arrest the recent downtrend experienced in the counter, especially since they choosed to release before a shortened trading day, think about the subdued impact of the Dubai announcement. Also, it is clear that there is exclusivity until Mar 2010, so there is still time to work out the deal. I also suspect that there could be some tie-up, like double accreditation, credits to graduate programme, etc. which takes time to iron out. Lets not forget that the rationale for this JV is conspiciously missing in the announcement article.

What the point of announcing a NON-BINDING event ?
I think the key point is perhaps like this : If you already own RE stock, don't panic and standstill.
If you have not own RE stock, you should take the red pill and go where the rabbit hole bring you to......somewhere or an event horizon. |

If the counter did move, it will only be the first hour between 9:00 - 10:00am.....if it don't, I think we can forget about the rest of the day till noon, as most ppl may be mood for celebration during the eve of Christmas liao...

Given that tomorrow is a shortened trading day, the theory goes that any moves (either way) may be exaggerated so need to manage expectations accordingly.

Also with this proposed JV, REC will not be solely offering programmes that are self-accredited (as it is now). Understand that ISS (Singapore) is one of only 4 other IB schools in Singapore that have all three IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP) from Primary through to Diploma. Of the 4, It is perhaps the 2nd most established IB school here, behind the Overseas Family School which started the IB programme a few years earlier.
Some developments, seems like good news on the surface as there is obviously synergy but the terms have not been disclosed yet, although some form of capex is required for sure.
