Today's Genting SP trades are a bit odd.

Although Genting SP is one of the top active shares today, there is no huge transactions.

It's like all the BBs just ignore Genting SP altogether.

Usually, just the morning, I would see a lot of huge volume Genting SP Trades. But today, nothing... zip... zero.

Have a feeling some big moves coming.

Just my feeling. Don't take it seriously.

Good luck.

What I commented on refers to many and/or most houses for the reasons I mentioned.

But I don't know about DBS.

They may indeed have a system in place to specifically discourage such transactions, for what you know.

Just a passing thought, though.. Smiley

Thanks iPunter.... appreciate it.... I will try doing this for just 1lot tomorrow... see if DBS calls me or not.

No one will tell you that can do naked short under any circiumstances.

But most houses have internal daily clearing systems to balance out all the transactions for the whole day.

Hence it is more of an administrative advantage than a facility for people to short-sell.     Smiley

why go through the risk when you can short CFDs?

If you plan to short intraday, that is sell and buy back before the market close, that is ok. But not encourage by SGX.

If you short and did not buy back before market close, that is illegal. Fine $1000 per day, up to 3 days.

If you plan to short and hold overnight, you must open a CFD account and trade through that account. This is the only legal way to hold short position overnight, but there is a daily charges.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks Terence, you mean as long as I sell in the morning and buy back in the afternoon this is ok? DBS Vickers said cannot.

Ya, foreign trading house closed for today. Foreign individuals still can buy SG shares .. but maximum per trade is 500 lots .. not much effect ..

eastcivic      ( Date: 23-Sep-2010 14:48) Posted:

I think he was referring to foreign houses in china and hong kong closed for the holidays, so lack of vol today......

the trades of foreign individuals cannot affect the vol so much......

epliew, I think you might have a point......
