So put an order at 2.02 tomorrow. Will be ok. See LVS shares. It is going up. Got 2 casinos. 1 up, 1 down to balance the equilibrium. Like yin and yang.

This is true..

And the so-called market's 'scripts' are none of our business..

It is soley the call of the market itself. That is obvious.

Thus it is meaningless and pointless to say "the market is always right"..

ie. why bother at all to mention the obvious (which makes the person look silly)?

Of course the market is always righ... how else can it be?

Unless one thinks the market's 'script' is one's own 'script',

but that is rather silly too, not to mention arrogant... hehe .. Smiley

Exactly... you are so right.

Thus, realising the market is not subject to our calls, but is the other way round,

we need to develop an totally unbiased appraoch to tackle the unpredictable beastly thing.

Unless we are happy to ride lengthy roller coasters, this has to be the best way for a compromise of sorts.. Smiley

if we can't trust even ourselves, how then do we trade? what and how do we make a decision to either buy, sell or hold?

PS: not challenging you, and no bad intentions from me, but just trying to learn more about trading.....

Agreed on this , shorting can get your account and identity blacklisted on SGX with a $1000 FINE when caught ! You can try CFD or ES , although these 2 does not appeal to me at all

to add on......

CFD = Contract For Difference

from wiki....  In finance, a contract for difference (or CFD) is a contract between two parties, typically described as "buyer" and "seller", stipulating that the seller will pay to the buyer the difference between the current value of an asset and its value at contract time. (If the difference is negative, then the buyer pays instead to the seller.) In effect CFDs are financial derivatives that allow investors to take advantage of prices moving up (long positions) or prices moving down (short positions) on underlying financial instruments and are often used to speculate on those markets.

For example, when applied to equities, such a contract is an equity derivative that allows investors to speculate on share price movements, without the need for ownership of the underlying shares.

In summary, when you play CFDs, you are playing the price movement of the share. Hence, you do not 'own' the share and you only pay 10-20% of the value of the share when you purchase a CFD.

For example, a CFD of 1,000 shares of genting at $2 will cost you 20% x 1,000 x $2 =  $400 (before commission and daily finance charge)

For 'long' positions, there will be a daily finance charge. but for 'short' positions, there are some houses which do not charge daily finance charges

alexchia01      ( Date: 23-Sep-2010 15:55) Posted:

If you plan to short intraday, that is sell and buy back before the market close, that is ok. But not encourage by SGX.

If you short and did not buy back before market close, that is illegal. Fine $1000 per day, up to 3 days.

If you plan to short and hold overnight, you must open a CFD account and trade through that account. This is the only legal way to hold short position overnight, but there is a daily charges.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

what is CFD? CASH?

Thanks Terence, you mean as long as I sell in the morning and buy back in the afternoon this is ok? DBS Vickers said cannot.
