The regulator said if it completes its investigations before Aug.1 and was satisfied Tiger Airways Australia no longer posed "a serious and imminent risk to air safety", it could clear the carrier to resume operations earlier. "CASA is making the application to the court because investigations into Tiger Airways Australia will not be completed by the end of the initial five working day suspension period," the statement said.

Australian regulators want Tiger ban until August

SYDNEY - Australia's aviation regulator on Wednesday said it would seek a court order extending a flight ban for budget carrier Tiger over safety issues until August.

ENLIGHTENMENT

Buyers of companies nowadays too crooked or too smart to give you a premium.  Instead of the current market price, they may just offer a NTA price (no premium, NAV 36 to 40 cents?).  Then jialat instead of huat.  Never pray for takeover unless there are at least two parties fighting for it.

I think it is very market sentiment driven ...  If the grounding is not extended, it might have a short boost to the price, so buying now at 1.03  could cheap ... but if extended then even at 1.00 might be too high ... :(  Unless you have insider infor on the case, it is just a bet on the outcome of the grounding case....

DJ MARKET TALK:Tiger Flat DMG Tips Potential Aircraft Delivery Delay
Dow Jones Newswires | 06 Jul 2011 11:31am

0331 GMT [Dow Jones] Tiger Airways (J7X.SG) is flat at S$1.04, its recovery after Monday's heavy selloff stalling with more negative newsflow on the carrier's Australian woes. Tiger says it has suspended ticket sales in Australia amid consumer regulator warnings it could face legal action for not disclosing the situation properly to customers. DMG says with ticket sales suspended, " there should be a gestation period for sales if it resumes services on July 9." It adds, another " cause of concern" is an article by ABC news that the South Australian government is seeking A$2.25 million from Tiger for breach of contract following news last week Tiger plans to scrap its Adelaide-Sydney route a Tiger spokesperson wasn't immediately available for comment on the ABC article. " We believe recent events will have serious negative repercussions on demand in Australia which might prompt Tiger to re-deploy capacity out of Australia to Singapore and hence delay deliveries of its new seven A320s." The house maintains its Sell call with a S$0.91 target, premised on 10X FY12F earnings. (matthew.allen@dowjones.com)
