Notice SMRT not only set up more shop spaces but also have spaces for advertisement (e.g. in the train/on the ground) -- talk about maximising profit!

more profit....means more dividend?
Eyes strained already, can't do much ah, take a break. Support line 1.71, this few days may reach, if US continue giving knee-jerking news. And PRC market down trend deepen. Good luck.
the ridership is definitely more nowadays.....more and more people are leaving their cars at home to take public tranport (espcially MRT)...
seem like the price like bullet train...has been monitor this counter very long

I have a strong feeling that SMRT will raise their fare again in JULY,... but now the price of this fundamentally strong stock is cheap to collect in my own opinion.... cheers

wow.... then the day when SMRT going to raise the fare again, then I will buy more shares
Nah...with a 42m ridership in January or approx 1.4m ridership per day, SMRT just need to increase fares by a mere 3c and the fine can be recovered within 14 days.
with the penalty slapped on SMRT from LTA. Not sure will it affect the stock price or the subsequent divdends
Record ridership in Jan 2008 for SMRT.....more revenue...more profit?
probably ppl still need to take mrt and bus to work to earn money, now that the stock market is down. And, some probably have to sell their cars to take public transport
Wow! This one is so stronggggg.....can go up some more, why huh?
It is a little over-valued. However it still heads north in coming week.
Do you think the share price of SMRT is over-valued now? But so far, this counter is very defensive against subprime and fluctuation lately....
What would be the ideal price to take in this counter?

I am a person who loves and embraces 'changes' (mebbie its because of my IT profession) esp if its to improve efficiency and productivity let alone profit (I guess the profit follows). People who resist changes actually have resigned under my leadership. So there you go. I welcome those new ERPs (new 16 gantries), rise in ERP and, new MRT lines, new bus routes and rise in taxi fare as in a longer run, I see more upside then downside.
I need my car mebbie when I am put in a situation whereby I can no longer own one will I resign to public transport. :) My trips will be more 'conscientious' and planned.
well..the most defensive stock is GOLD$ lah....ayo....
ERP charges going to be increased......more ppl will swtich to public transport.
I think SMRT will be choice of counter for BB to park their fund when the mkt goes volatile like now. Everyone is going defensive, BB will do the same as well. Current price of $1.64 is a good buy with 5% dividend yield. Other defensive counters are like ST Engineering, maybe the REITS, and some property counters that were trading below NAV like SPLand and UOL. Just my thoughts to share with all of you, no intention to induce ppl to buy.
