Guess will b gd supported aroubd 1.0x. No dividend declare tis yr?

The trick is to dump all if it goes below 1.20...

It will not sink, but a prolonged low tide is frust enough for any holder...

But this counter should be rising, since many are interested in it...

Agreed. This stock did not sink in 2009 when the whole world is in deep recession and freight rate plunge to lowest level.

Another plus is temasek can always pop up the stock by using singapore reserve like what they did to olam when it was attacked by shortist muddy water.

Unsinkable aircraft carrier that keep market alive otherwise where got stocks that can rise up and down so fast in a short period of time. Punter/Shortist love always NOL.

Lastly we are very near the bottom cycle for shipping industries, rebound in 2014 is expected since majority of new builds would be delivered and old ships scrapped, supply and demand balanced out. Just need to hold out till that happen, long time investors always win in government controlled company having  unlimited fund supply from banks.

Reading the charts, YZJ is more promising than NOL, but no guarantee..

Always enter at the low and be prepared to cut loss...

NOL had bottomed out since 4Q is the weakest quarter, not to mention trading activities got hit by US fiscal cliff fear.

To lose < 100mil in 4Q is not that bad considering the very bad trading environment. From report, operating cost dipped slightly down below US2500 which is the average rate for 2012. i got a bit over optimistic on 4Q due to earning rebound lol but it is ok since most likely market had priced in the full year loss seeing this week almost down 5% before result is out for no reasons. Half of the big ships scheduled to be delivered this year had been postponed to 2014. Something to note NOL building sale profit is not included in 2012 and  transaction is expected to be completed in end feb. This might bring a boost of 196 mil non reocurring gain to 1Q13 result, not to mention successful PSS implementation in mid jan. All this pointed to a good start for 2013.

Like i posted in previous posts, after results is out big players might start to position for better 2013 results. I wait for them to go in first before starting mine trade punting. By the way if u intended to short, take note shorting info would be made known to public somewhere in mid march after market close. Don get caught with ur pant down, very painful cos u cannot hold shorting positon unlike long time investors who can wait out.

NEPTUNE Orient Lines' loss in the final quarter of 2012 narrowed to US$98 million (S$122 million) from US$320 million a year earlier.

The shipping and logistics group, which was unable to overcome deep Q1 losses of US$255 million and a one-time charge of US$108 million in Q2, ended FY2012 with a loss of US$419 million. This was a slight improvement from FY2011's US$478 million loss.

Revenue in Q4 rose 4 per cent to US$2.5 billion from US$2.4 billion a year ago. For the full year, turnover rose 3 per cent to US$9.51 billion.

Group CEO Ng Yat Chung credited his staff for achieving US$504 million in cost reductions through reduced bunker consumption and improved terminal productivity.

Freight rate is being kept stable by liners idling lot of ships to balance demand and supply. Oil might be heading south after hitting peak in feb due to more supply coming, last night rumours that large hedge fund is unloading their long position spook commodities sentiment, oil tank $2.50 to 114 from 116. Liners now are moving their ships sharing program to transpacific. NOL should benefit greatly from it since most of revenue is from US and US rate now is very solid. Using less ships to transport same amount of cargo = less oil used = profit.

Demand is expected to be slow on US and weak on europe, key to profit is only through cost saving and vessel sharing alliance. NOl had done cost saving in 2012 and currently just need to be involved in more vessel sharing alliance to further improve the efficiency. This year got 21 new ships replacing the retired chartered ships, might be able to lower operating cost further in 3Q and 4Q. Pray hard Obama and US Congress don screw each other up and caused a global fear namely the incoming spending cuts and debt ceiling in May.
