cheongwee: my strategy is stay invested at all times as it is hard to catch the low and up. of cuz you can reduce the frequency of your trade if you are wary of the market situation but keeping periodically invested should yield better returns than total exit and then total enter on appropriate moment in the long run.you may disagree with my strategy of cuz :)

DJ is toying every region tossing them ard these days.  For 6 hours GBP/JPY was down almost 300 points and the next 6 hours, its up with 400 points.  My stop was hit at a loss of 4000USD and placed a BUY for a reverse.  Now I got my money back. God! This is no fun. Utterly bad for health!!

My opinion..no a suggestion for trade...is that the risk of staying outweight the benefit..will clear as per rebound..and stay off. for the moment..but will be back in any rally..like the recent pennies rally..if there is one..let hope for the best..

The guy who make the most is he who get in early...and hopfully out before party end..the latter is more difficult..most luck.

This round saw my profit dwindle by 25%..put some to gold stock and commodity relate..believe gold got a future...alway my ambition to see a gold px of US$2600...like David Bensimon forcast...we shall see.

Hi Elfin, I got the data from Yahoo finance website. Either the their data are wrong, or they just based on stocks, excluding may be some other types.  According to Yahoo Finance, last wed (25/07), the vol is 2.74 mil lots, far from figure. May be you can enlighten us.

For the month of May to July (3 mths), the median vol in STI is 2,940,000 lots. Today's vol of 4,940,000 lots is the 4th largest during these three mths.

Rank   by Vol            Date

1st     617,000,000     27/06/2007

2nd    534,000,000     20/06/2007

3rd     498,000,000     29/06/2007

Could these be repeated in the next round, 1 mth after a vol of 600,000,000, STI will undergoes a correction.

Below quoted:

("This is not a turning point in the stock market," said
Hirokazu Yuihama, the regional strategist at Daiwa in Hong Kong.
"There will not be a major correction because the decline is not
spurred by factors within Asia."
Yuihama, who favours export-related sectors such as the
technology, shipping and transport sectors, said the Singapore
market is expected to rise another 10-20 percent from current
levels.)

Let us be calm and patient.....

Some stock dont crash as much as others so I beg to differ else they wont call these stocks safe haven stock.

Compare YongXin and Telechoice for today.

Yongxin 10 lots at opening 0.67 = 6700SGD

Yongxin 10 lots at closing 0.58 = 5800SGD

Yongxin = -900SGD

Telechoice 10 lots at opening 0.265 = 2650GD

Telechoice 10 lots at closing 0.26 = 2600SGD

Telechoice = - -50SGD

If you a 5 lots of YongXin and 5 lots of Telechoice.  Will you be worse of?

I reckon STI will fall to 3330 or even lower soon. Worse case 3200.

Daffodil,

Just sharing this with you after reading up some books on investment...one advice is dun gather too many counters in your portfolio. Concentrate on a few.

Hi Daffodil,

It may be good to sell at the beginning of the drops. Then must prepare psychologically (Elf is good at this with her experiences with the BBs) and timing to buy back. Towards the end of the drop, no point in selling. Just have to swim and keep afloat if you can afford to keep the money in stocks. Should not buy only speculative stocks, may be 50% good div stocks, so even if you keep them, you will have div better than bank interest just like the last few years.

Hi Sporeguy,

Can you pls share more about the Wave A. B. C which I have read in several postings? I am very new in the stock market and have a lot of money now stuck. I am not sure what to do .. should i sell and cut losses or buy more to leverage out? Unfortunatively, I have only bought speculative stocks such as CSC, IPCO, RH Energy, Straits Asia, Multi-con, Yangzijiang, jackspeed, ChinaAngel, YHI and Frontline.

I appreciate any advice.

Many Thaks

Wave A : 3665 (24/07) - 173 = 3492 (27/07)

Wave C should drop by 0.618x173=107

Postulated Wave C : 3548 (31/07) -107 =3441.

But like a bouncing ball dropping from a high pt, should have it drop approx. (1-0.618)x107(=40)  more i.e let it drop by 107+40 =147 till 3400 before bouncing to 3441. Thus can start to nibble when it drops below 3400.
