The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has filed an application with the Federal Court seeking an order that Tiger Airways Australia not fly until 1 August 2011.
The suspension of their operating certificate continues in the meantime.
The application was filed on Thursday 7 July 2011.
The Federal Court has listed Friday 22 July 2011 for a directions hearing.

I believe  reversal on the way and short covering starting soon.

Worse news now, ban for flying for the next 4 weeks, ie. lose another 6 million for the next 4 weeks. Cheers.

Am thinking to load up a bit but looks like the near term is  quite uncertain.
Even if the ban may be lifted soon by 1 Aug, just how much this incident has tarnished the reputation of Tiger remains to be seen. Right now, no one can be sure if their management quality is reliable enough to improve operations.
I will wait out for a good news hopefully.
hmm....ask urself wat's the intrinsic value of this stock?? SIA holds abt 32% stake....and it announced not long ago that it is investing in budget airline with full fledge commitment...wat SIA din say is if it is starting a new budget air or grow the Tiger that it now 32% owned that is currently hving a safety flying/reputation issue.....hv some thot on it folks... :)

Capital group sold down their shares on Tiger .. Not so positive...
They
had appointed a new non exec chairman who is experienced in aviation
industry and a new acting CEO who is also a old hand in aviation
industry.Current price of $1.04 is way below it IPO price of $1.50 and
yes it is v attractive to get at this
price. Now the crucial point is will the Aussie ban Tiger Airways
permanently or till August?I will say Tiger still got hope if they can
clear up the mess till end of August or later date.Since,Tiger airways revenue
from Australia is v large so i believe Tiger Management will not exit
Australia market and will work closely with the aussie air safety
regulator to reach a agreement.I believe aussie will not extend the ban
once everything is sorted out.I will say this is a god send gift from
the sky ,if u got spare cash can buy n hold it and wait for it to
rebound.
later u will hear the Tiger ROAR!

what happen now ?
good time to go in now ?
Singapore-listed budget carrier Tiger Airways Holdings (TAHL.SI) said on Thursday it is confident of eventually resuming its services in Australia and that it remains committed to the country for the long term.
“We are optimistic of returning to normal services while reassuring the public, staff and stakeholders of our long-term commitment to Australia,” Tiger said in a statement.
“We are optimistic of returning to normal services while reassuring the public, staff and stakeholders of our long-term commitment to Australia,” Tiger said in a statement.
Tiger said its comments follow the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s (CASA) decision to extend the suspension of Tiger Airways Australia’s domestic services until July 31 or earlier pending the outcome of CASA’s investigations
ahh.. sorry.. can i check... was it mentioned anywhere that they are considering leaving australia? official reports or media statements?...
Australia request their federal to further extend Tiger's suspension for 2 weeks more despite SIA/Tiger executive go over for meeting.
But if its true that, Tiger  Budget Airline is unsafe, it deserved to be suspended as it jeopardise pessenger's safety.
And it not even worth allowed to fly at all and in fact should be banned for life, revoke flying license.
But flying  at low unsafe level ?
What sort of pilot do Tiger have ?
Where they got their license ?
They should be sacked for not only cause the company to loose financial, country to loose reputation as unsafe airline, bring emberassment for Singapore world wide, reflect sliding world standards and postion, Singapore airline's own reputation as a world's leading airline is at stake due to its subsidiary.
It spell doom for singapore's safety record.
Sub standard, influx of FT left unchecked have mid to long term consequences. It initially is happy to save cost by filling up job vacancies across the industries.
Even when you go restaurants, you find that, waiters whom hardly speak a word of English are employed as service staffs. It can give customer lots of frustration just to order their food. Tourist might feel the same way..........  it also effect other industries. But having said that, there are GOOD TTs also to be fair, but how many ? Majority are sub standard staffs, mentality and communication hiccups.
I went to a laksa store recently, feel like walking out from it when the waiter couldn't really understand my orders. I keep repeating he keep shaking his head. :). My god.  It refect very badly on the service industry and now Flying industry, where SIA top the world repeatedly. Now making news for bad safety record and is banned ?
Its a worrying sign of all Singapore's services, products and all. Its rojak quality slwoly but surely the day when the door is open for  bad quality FTs. cost savings  but under disguise of unable to recruit locals.
Remember when your contry fall, this FTs can just pack up go elsewhere to continue earnings. who care if your economy falters or fail.
This one issue really must have GOV intervention as it effect's Singapore reputation and bring it down if ignored.
Especially so  when it have link with SIA and the GOV though its so call privatised.
Its about quality control, safety emphasis, worlkd standard and bench mark for the nation.
The CEO must be taken to task for such dis-repute.  He knows it, and heard he is selling off his own shares in open market. No confident. he will likely loose his job.
90 cents soon.
