Hi OngHuiHui,

From your postings, I gathered you are a very serious investor who is much inclined towards the fundamentals of stocks. And I believe you have considerable experience  in the market too. I, too have considerable experience in losing money in the market. And I have lost more than I made. And I frankly can't see how I can ever make back what I have lost in the past. So much so that I have concluded that the stock market is NOT the place to get rich quick ( except if you are a 'Big Boy', of course). The market is just the market. It is a neutral entity 'with a mind of it's own' at best.  In playing the market, I realise we are not  pitting against the market, but against ourselves. We are not to have too many prejudices or are easily irritated by things as they are,  be they philosophical or otherwise.  :)

Ya, share your thought also.

I also almost got caught in Biosensors. Luckily I took a small profit instead of betting it for good result. It declines days before result out. And result was bad..., and still down...

Hi OngHuiH,

I agree with you on point #1. You are so right on this.

I made that mistake recently with Starhub. I forgot to check if the earnings reports are due before going into Starhub.

Colorado hi, thanks for giving me the opportunity to share ideas. Few key points here:

#1.  It is a FATAL ERROR to use TA juz before the result. Note - I am a firm believer of  TA. But TA must be used at the rite time.

#2.  Sitting on losses is not a good idea. Exit plan is important. For me, I normally exit when the price is between 3-5 bids down against me. Or I average if i believe the the counter has future. In the case of CAO, you have seen my recommendation buy at $1.  Why am I confident? This is from FA.  The last 2Qs positive results and the backer behind this counter BP, Temasek.  And it is opnenly reported the china oil requirements has increased. Fyi, reportedly from Jan 06 to Dec 06, CAO oil trade will be  51% more oil than last year.  Note this point.

#3.  Remember to log in profit if you happen to buy juz before the result. Yesterday, I diposed off 65% of my holding  @1.05  Note highest was 1.06.   Since, price has retreat to1.03-1.04.

#4. Whether to buy now at 1.03 or 1.04 - I have no recommendation. If opportunity arises, price fall toward $1 again .... maybe.

#5. I don't mean to cause offence to anyone in this forum. There are many good people here. I have benefitted from their viewpoints. But u must be careful who you listen to.  Some juz make some philosophical statements.  Take note of those who contributed regularly and see if what they say make sense - meaningful u become richer from their sharing.   Our aim is to make money and not to win arguments!

Best wishes.

Hi,

I used to hear people say the best champion traders do their trading in the isolation of their own yatchs, far out at sea where they are not influenced by others' ideas.

Well, I suppose we should take that to heart too!  :)

Hi OngHuiH:

Totally agree with you that listening to too many opinions may end up losing.

One of the items we learnt in the Novice TA course by terraseeds on Art of Trading is: Ignore chat room chatter.

Cheers

my apology. I actually referring to DI.

The 3 lines (ADX, +DI and -DI) are together.

ADX indicates the strength of the trend, either bearish (-DI avove +DI) of bullish (+DI above -DI), improving the odds.

Still trying to understand the indicators, correct me if I got the wrong understanding.

If I remembered correctly, ADX is Average Directional Index. But too bad, maxsyn did not want to confirm with me. Anyway, ADX is just one of the indicators used in TA. Not commonly found. This is used to gauge its trend and not to determine a particular trend.

ADX cross over and surge in volume, possible reversal after supporting at $1 for sometimes.

Hi Ong HuiH, I just managed to on my computer and saw your post.  I would love to buy but I have to calculate my cost as I'm using CPF to trade.  What are your thoughts?

Colorado hi,  did you pick up shares at $1?  Sometimes if one listen to too many opinions, ended up losing. I have turned losses into gain by buying in more at $1.

Although A/D Lines & Chaikin showing slight uptrend, in my personal opinions, I still feel that there are somemore downside to this counter. Not an inducement to buy or sell.

Thank you iPunter and Singaporegal for your comments and views. I had also lost alot of money previously as my trading in those days were solely based on hearsay.  Now I am trying to learn to trade base on FA and TA.

My take on this -

FA and TA are just tools to base trading decisions on. People have been successful using either one or even both. Its just a matter of applying the techniques with rigid trading discipline.
