On April 24, 2007, the International Copper Study Group (ICSG) said that its preliminary data showed that world copper production exceeded consumption by 40,000 tons in January. World mine production was up 9% from a year ago while total usage was up 6%. On May 16, 2007, the ICSG predicted that world refined copper production will exceed usage by 282,000 tons in 2007 and by 527,000 tons in 2008. For all of 2006, the ICSG said that world copper production exceeded consumption by 330,000 tons in all of 2006, a fairly dramatic increase from the 121,000-ton production deficit in 2005. 2006 world mine production was up slightly with 88% of the world's mines being utilized. World refined usage was up 2% with increases in demand coming from the European Union (15), India, Russia, and Japan. The bearish threat to this market usually comes from Chile where the bulk of the world's copper is produced and expansion plans continue. However, in 2006, South American production was up just 1% and the biggest increase (17%) came from Africa. London inventories of copper started 2006 at 89,575 tons and finished the year at 182,800 tons.

Looks like good news, think can see substantial profits pretty soon.
announced that it has secured a number of major contracts with a state-owned oil company in China. The contracts add up to approximately S$27.6 million (US$18.1 million) in value. Advanced expects positive contributions from these contracts in FY2007. As part of the project, Advanced will leverage on its extensive engineering expertise to provide process equipment and engineering services to these plants.
Hope it will clear the 0.78 barriers today ...cheers
