The sale of treasury shares is on.
China increased its interest rate for the first this year, may affect OCBC badly.
OCBC mainly is leading the way only. The rest of the banks should be following suit. Many people have sold bank shares to buy pennies and mid caps. I believe the pennies and second liners are good for now and they will try to move to their previous prices that were brought down by the financial crisis of 2008. Many of them are still languishing at their bottoms.
Anybody know why OCBC share price drop from high of 9.14 on fri. to 8.87 today ? Why this sudden drop?

Dubai's problems do create a dampening effect for Bank counters. But if you look at all 3 bank counters charts, everytime a dip takes place, give it a month or less, they all escalate beyond their previous peaks.
Banks do buy in their own share when it dips. That's their way of saying thank you for selling it back to me at a bargain.
Unless u do contra, if you can afford to hold... keep it there.

Contrary to your rumour, a friend of mine working in one of them 3 banks as well tells me otherwise - apart from DBS's investments in Dubai's investments, other banks aren't exposed as to what you think. Look at the buy and sell volume, ppl are consolidating more than sales.
Oh btw, based on consensus, Banks' outlook are positive.

One of my friend in woking in banking sectot tols me all 3 bank a in deep shit bcos of dubai dep problem. It is just a matter of how serious it is .
So do trade with care. Better be safe that sorry-- RUN.

Short term might test $8.65 - $ 8.80 Range - Price target from Zhuge liang's investment fund. He expected to be around $8.50 - $8.60 will be the support point. |

From the looks of things, OCBC will not reach 9 bucks in the near term, not before the end of the yr or end of next year.
Must be in trouble. Run better.
The 3 local banks are not seriously attacked. Not surprising they are doing not too badly. UOB shares instead have risen in price.

Actually I am aiming at abv 9.00 because I sold my DBS too cheaply and hope to balance out.

You shoukd buy 2 lots in alternate day. This can save some broker fee and you have the same number of lot collected.
