not sure if you are referring to Hong Leong Bank Bhd. or maybe in Singapore market it is kinda of the same... Anyway the news is that /eon bank is suppose to merge with HLBB and well are in the final stages of planning already... Working in data center at HLBB here in Kuala Lumpur and I can see that all the Big Boss is kindy oh hush hush on this but we are already planning on merging their system and ours which gives us Operators one hell of a BIG headache as more systems to monitor as well as troubleshoot but no pay increase...
Drop in price as EON in KLSE is lower than HLBB so EON would rise and HLBB would come down so both shares would have rather the same value... Well thats what this NOOB thinks :)

Can anyone advise why HL Asia's price has dropped by so much (from 3.51 to 3.36) in the last week or so? There is no major news or reports that is negative ... or is there?
Also, there is a SGX announcement on 24/9 that HLGE issued 16,591,000 new ordinary shares in the capital of the Company (the “Ordinary Shares”) to Grace Star Services Ltd. What does this mean? Does the Company have to buy shares from Open Market to issue these shares? Is this the cause of the drop in price? Can you explain please?
Thanks in advance

Another bad news :
CIMB Downgrades Hong Leong Asia To Underperform.............. 8/16/2010 3:59:00 PM .................... 0759 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: CIMB downgrades Hong Leong Asia (H22.SG) to Underperform from Outperform, cuts target price to S$3.21 from S$4.86, valuing China unit Xinfei at 10X FY11 P/E vs 16X FY10 P/E previously, to account for slower growth. Also lowers group FY10-12 core EPS estimates by 18%-20% to assume reduced contributions from other Chinese unit Yuchai. Notes 2Q10 earnings of consumer electronics unit Xinfei down despite June quarter being its seasonally strongest quarter, hurt by weaker margins stemming from higher raw material costs, trade discounts offered to counter competition. Says 2Q10 performance of diesel engines unit Yuchai hurt by higher selling & distribution costs. Shares off 4.0% at S$3.56.

Result note - Headwinds ahead - by Kenneth Ng CFA
(HLA SP / HLAA.SI, UNDERPERFORM - Downgraded, S$3.71 - Tgt. S$3.21, Industrial Goods and Services)
We downgrade HLA to Underperform from Outperform. 2Q10 core net profit of S$32.2m (+25% yoy) accounts for 23% of our FY10 forecast (1H10 at 49%) and consensus. The shortfall emanated from a weaker-than-expected Xinfei. Management also guided for further weakness in Yuchai's earnings in 2H10. We thus cut our FY10-12 core EPS estimates by 18-20% on reduced assumptions for Yuchai and Xinfei. We also defer an exceptional gain on the disposal of a plantation by Tasek to FY11 from FY10 after management guided for the deal's closure in FY11. While we previously pegged Xinfei at 16x CY10 P/E, we now roll forward and value it at 10x CY11 P/E, at a wider 30% discount (previously 20%) to peers to account for its slower growth. Accordingly, our sum-of-the-parts target price falls to S$3.21 from S$4.86. Management announced the termination of its strategic review of Xinfei. We downgrade HLA to Underperform as poorer earnings in coming quarters would likely weigh on its share price. |
