I was also in Informatics during 2001 - 2003. During then the administration was quite messy. If you dun chase after the admin office regarding your student status, you might end up having no class assigned and no text books. The campus were all separated with some in Tanjong Pagar and Dhoby Ghaut. However, I do "commend" that when it comes to collecting fees, they never miss and will never be late.
Now I feel that things might be better and more easily managed with everything under one roof at Jurong East campus. For business and convenience wise I feel that location is not as good compared to previously it was in town area. However, they are putting more focus on e-learning. If e-learning can get wide acceptance, then it could be a real cash cow. Imagine minimal costs with high returns equals great margins.
Let's hope they will repay investor confidence with better performance. I am invested. :)
yup, need to look at longer term for informatics.
hi Andy, if yr experience with informatics is say 2004 and before, then thats less of a concern since that is when informatics gotten themselves into a mess. If its only recently, then may need to relook into this counter again.
hi, can anyone tell me when was Vincent tan Buying informatic stake ?
i researched on Berjaya Grp, i noticed that this big corporation has plenty of the big business, and in fact is the biggest / leader of eache sector.. for ex - Gambling, gaming - Berjaya Sport TOTO, shopping Mall - Time Square, MLM - Causeway, etc. in its education sector, Informatic is like a tiny boy and the only small business the group owned. why the malaysian tycoon is interested to buy a loss-making company ??!! i belive berjaya group is going to grow in its education sector and they may make Informatic a very big education center. Berjaya grp has huge cash flow, it is like giant n informatic is a small boy.
try to understand why the big coporation wanted to buy their first education business (lose making somemore), and we can predict the group is going to do something on informatic. i dont think they are interested to buy a comp with negative profit and negative asset.
Finally, the reason for the surge in price:

believe info could be back in the black as soon as this coming FY after getting rid of all their loss making operations overseas. Tied up more courses with prestigious unis should further boost their revenue and recover some lost reputations. Market had began to take notice of this.
Warning though, road to recovery might not be a smooth one but the longer term holders shouldn't be worry as can easily ride it out and wait for this counter to scale greater heights.

May the Purple Train be a Bullet Train!

Today, overall market will be soft, due to a 1% decline in the Dow Jones Ind. Index. However, penny stock with good future potential will be in demand, and Informatics Education is one of the few gems left for long term investment. There should not be any panick selling in this stock - remember, a million shares cost S$115K - S$130K only. Even with 100 million shares traded, the value amounts to only S$11.5m - S$13m, which is peanuts compared other high value stocks. There are lots of millionaires out there due to the buoyant property market, and they're very willing to park their monies in potential pennies to realise huge capital gains. So have faith, and I'm sure you'll do well in the years to come. God Bless!
