- To travel the world.
- To go back to varsity to do subjects of interest rather than commercially viable subjects
- to spread a little happiness to my loved ones

Hi Elfin,

I was really touched when I read your intentions of buying flat for your grandma and giving your parents a good life. I am just happy for you that you have managed to ovecome the difficulties of life and you are now doing well.....

God bless and take care, Elfin....

To make MORE money for:

1.Rainy days - jobs are very unsecure..

2. Hospital days - no one is going to cash you out..

3. Hobby days - do the things you like..

4. Happy days - $$ makes the world goes round

5. Charitable days - No $$ means no help others, although you may say contributing effort is also a help (But if you are starve, u don even has the strength, hence, effort??)

6. Family days - No $$ is like a car without petrol

7. Honey days - No $$, No honey...ha..:P

my reasons for making money are

in case i got any medical problems, i wun be a burden to others.
i've seen quite a number of pple suffering from stroke. the person is unable to work and that realli drains the family resources

we all have theories, logic, ethics, morals, principles etc. having money will lend weight to these. how many of u all will listen to a poor chap was talks about big ideas??

finally, i always wanted to set up schools in some poor country. something like what Tan Kah Kee has done. i can already imagine the school named after me leow. hahaha

To have a little money on oneself is definitely better than to borrow from others.

For me, it 'pains' me whenever the housing loan statement arrives telling me how much of the monthly installment goes into the interest component (rather than reducing the principle amount). So, my aim is to use the kopi lui made from stock mkt to finance the interest, better still if it can help reduce the principle very quickly. I'm sure it will feel very good to be completely debt free.

I believe the market can give me better returns than leaving money in the bank.

hehe tanglinboy, take me with you when you go! heehee!

yep, concur with geojam's too. i should like financial independence of any job.

altho (to answer shplayer)...i don't actually have to invest in the stock market since my current day job gives a pension. provided i stick it out. >o<

elf,

Very noble reason to make $$$.

But, surely there must be an element of self interest too?

Just a question to all forumers here...

when you ask a person why he/she is playing the market, the invariable reply is, "to make money."

my question is: what are you making money for?

there's a quote somewhere, by Gibran, i think, that goes, "tell me who you love, and i'll tell you who you are." Swap the first 'who' for 'what', perhaps, in considering the question.

Any forumers kind enough to answer? my first new post. give business leh... haha.

hm. since i asked i guess i havta share too...elf has very simple reasons for wanting to make money:

1) To buy my grandmother's flat for her ('cos the loan running out and no one can/wants to pay)

2) To give my parents the kind of life they could never afford to give me.

how abt the people here? :)
