Singtel is betting for 1 of 2 license, need everyone to be on board to built Myanmar tel-communication infrastructure from scratch (new). Building a super highway communication infrastructure need a lot of contractors around.

CarrierNet is most recently enter agreement n appointed by Singtel S'pore retail overall agent (and why not other Co n oni CarrierNet..?), and who expert is in building hardware telcom infrastructure, who oso own two submarine cabling network.

CarrierNet. It representative is on board as director, a CEO who run Trikomsel listed in Jakarta (Trikomsel bigger boss is is JP Morgan. Indo listed Trikomsel is based in on it vast retail experience on it developing a 3rd world concept, likely, like what is going to be develop in Myanmar.

I m betting Singtel, our President TT is oso hard at work to promote more trade btw both states.

I dont see trikom in any of the 23 prequalifier or joint bid with Singtel. Slim chance carriernet will get.

I'm betting on Singtel, along with CarrierNet, a potential RTO by Trikomsel - an Indonesia listed firm control by BBs JP Morgan. Plus their Myanmar partner...Our president TT is now look look see see, promoting busineses in Yangon.

What's the chances of Singtel, Starhub or the Soros-linked group winning the contract to operate the  telecommunications licence in Myanmar?

Ans:   1 in 22

What's the chances of selling many millions of handsets in Myanmar, in partnership with a respectable company there?

Ans: Very high chance.

>   YANGON (AFP) - Vodafone, China Mobile and an investment fund linked to billionaire George Soros are among 22 bidders vying to >   enter Myanmar, one of the world's last unexplored mobile telephone frontiers.

So, bet on the SURE WIN horse! Lol. DYODD!

SIM cards will be sold at a dramatically reduced price of 1,500 kyats (US$2US) in Burma, making mobile phones affordable for the general population for the very first time

350,000 SIM cards will be divided among states and divisions on a monthly basis.

--

Question:   How many mobile phones are needed for the monthly 350,000 SIM cards issued? How many mobile phones needed per year?

Go figure it yourself! DYODD!

NEW YORK: A private investment fund linked to billionaire George Soros is bidding with a consortium for a new telecommunications licence in Myanmar, the consortium leader said Thursday.

Quantum Strategic Partners, whose principal investment adviser is Soros Fund Management, is bidding with consortium leader and telecom provider Digicel Group Limited and YSH Finance, a newly established holding company, Digicel said in a statement.

" The liberalisation of the telecommunications market in Myanmar will serve as an important economic stimulus for the country," Soros said in the statement.

The two Myanmar telecomms licenses, which will each have an initial term of 15 years, are expected to be awarded by June 2013. From the chart, it is noticeable some syndicate  is accumulating - thanks and good luck to the kateks.
