2014: How to Survive the Next World Crisis

by Nicholas Boyle

London: Continuum, 2010

A new world crisis is already looming. By 2014, our generation’s legacy to the twenty-first century will be decided. Will it be a century of climatic disaster and war? The roots of the present crisis lie in an unbalanced globalization which has failed to match economic with political integration. False models of nationhood, markets, and empires have hindered the development of global governance.

If human civilization is to survive the twenty-first century, current ideologies will have to give way to a more realistic acceptance of supranational authorities, and especially of an enhanced IMF and WTO. The banking collapse and its ramifications call for a revived understanding of the interdependence of politics and economics. The self-images of nations have lost touch with the realities that determine our lives: it is the world order that now gives us our identity and alone can secure our collective future.

Nicholas Boyle is Fellow and President of Magdalene College, Cambridge. He is Schroder Professor of German in the University. Professor Boyle is the author of a major award-winning three volume biography of Goethe and also of German Literature: A Very Short Introduction and Who Are We Now? In 2000, he was awarded the Goethe Medal of the Goethe-Institut.

Looks like tomorrow another volatile day.

Long? Short ?  I think whatever actions must close within the day. Tomorrow Friday.

Or maybe just stay on the sideline and watch the show.

Just one thing to remember in this kind of market. One should sell even it is a $100 dollars profit as in this kind of volatile market...... your profit could be easily be gone in seconds.   We are going for Lower Low and Lower High ....

Careful ------ Trade with Care.

There will always be juicy rebounds...

And when rebounds (powerful rallies) occur,

many will rush in to buy, because

they will be feeling very bullish... Smiley

Today the HangSeng " chiong" (rebound) like no tomorrow...

but the STI drops down instead...

If tomorrow the Hangseng resumes dropping,

then STI most likely continue dropping...

but whether drop like sheet or not...

                                    no one can tell...  Smiley

THE WORLD MAYBE HIT BY ANOTHER DEEP RECESSION END OF THE YEAR OR EARLY NEXT YEAR. IF THIS HAPPEN CHINA WONT BE ABLE TO SAVE THE WORLD ONCE MORE LIKE IT DID LAST ROUND. BE PREPARED FOR YHE WORST. CASH IS KING NOW. THE ONCE UNTHINKABLE DOUBLE.DIP HAS A 50/50 CHANCE OF HAPPENING. STI NEXT STRONG SUPPORT IS AT 2650. GOOD LUCK

Most Big funds have cash on hands now after recent sell off. Maybe some still hold 10-15% exposure in the market. Now they are waiting sideline to see the development before jumping back in. However most funds are.more willingly to enter Chinese and hong kong market. Rather than the US. As growth will be.limited there now.

its a shame that world.number 1 super power show its ugly side.of it politics to the world during their debt crisis debate. America is like leading by 2 party. When 2 party totally disagree on the things should go about things will get delayed and turn out bad. I am pleased and happy with singapore political system. Thats why things get implemented fast and changed inorder to overcome obstacles. Singapore has growth into an advanced economy thanx to our government. Singapore is one of the 15 countries.in the.world to have AAA rating. Happy birthday Singapore. Even though STI is a bloodbath. Trade with care. Huat ah. Singapore forever! a Nation strong and free!

Dow jone started its decline from 12724 on jul 21 till 8 aug 11444 close. if we include its intra day low of 11139. it shows a correction of 1585 pts. which is around 12.4% dow might find it support at 10943. if that breaks we will be looking at 9985. Sti has a 98% chance it will have a technical rebound on coming wednesday. as fed and ecb will most likely announced something to calm the market. i say the market is downtrend because the current global.environment is different from what we had in 2008. 2008 most advanced economy are in better position in their debt issue they are more and have the ability to bailout banks or stimulate the economy. also interest rate are pretty high in 2008 so they have another option to stimulate the economy by lowering the interest rate. In 2008 china is growing fast and furious. when crisis hit China cut the interest rate issue a stimulus package to its economy that work well. however look at the current situation. we had record low interest rate, we had record high debts in many advanced economy. Are they in a position to save the economy again? after spending trillions of dollars what has really changed? nothing but more debts. i believed the world may eventually let the market recover.itself. good luck. still today is a good chance to buy. i execpt a relief.rally to kick in this week.
