Thats what i always tot 2001 should be 'bull' market. Perhaps, he was lucky to have got his condo at 'rock bottom' price.......

"Fortune telling" usually covers a longer frame of time.  After the market came down 1987 before ending in 1997 (10 years) the next phase of bull started slowly from 1998/1999 when the market seemed to have bottomed. During those years the prices of properties were cheap.  Condos unless in good location is usually not a good investment.  Many people with poor locality got stuck even upto today.  So I don't know whether 2001 was bearish, but it appears to be inside the 10 year bullish cycle.  It is noted that bear period is mostly shorter than bull, and the commencement time can overlap with the bull and vice versa.

I remember my friend telling me he bought a condo in  last quarter of 2001 with a 'rock bottom' price.  Was year 2001 a 'bear' market?  Property price picked up again later but agian, hit by SARs outbreak......

Yes, I agree.  Use your own principles and not the way of professionals.

But when you unload, please don't sell SUNMOON, hoh. Unless you want to regret for the rest of you life, missing the chunk of money you could make when this bugger says " I AM BACK FROM THE HALF-DEAD AND NOW I AM A PHEONIX RISING FROM THE ASHES!".

CHEERS.

Before money can be made, it is good to practise "unloading the babies for others to carry", at least for the time being ...

And even in roaring bull markets, people also lose money... hehehe... Smiley

I think bulls and bears come and go without respect for the years they are in.

Man (govt) can make the bears come or go.  So Man (govt) can make the bulls come or go.

Look at TARP money, and now economic recovery in sight, we are bull in a bear period?

But I thought one cylce is 10 years. Last two rounds of bull were if not wrong, around 1998/1999 to 2008/2009 and from 1987/8 to 1997/1998.

If we base on 10 years bear-bull cycles, I think next bear could come around 2018 or 2019.

I think it is hard to predict the market.

Hahaha.

From 2009 the year of the bull (COW, favoured) beginning with the first Lunar month of 26 Jan 2009 where we see on hindsight the bottoming and ending of the Bear (Rat,unfavoured) by March 2009.

So we should have 7 years of good harvest from 2009 to 2015.  This will be followed by the next 7 years of bad times and if judging by cycles, the bear will come back somewhere in April 2015.

Hope we enjoy while we have good times and invest well.  Cheers.
