Bad Omen - Lightning strike Merlion

It is a double awarded....hmm, shortly after lighting stuck on merlion head, and most recently...the father got an award and another award goes to daugther-in-law...look like if lighting stuck again it might just do good, look good and act good....hmmm.

I see two black hole...err..does it mean it merlion head is operated not once but twice..operation merlion zap zap, once is not enuff, so is losing more then once, win also not once if ever we can win, look like we lose and lost again, as losing is not enuff, as we have yet...for merlion to account for those UBS huge losses. it double or nothing for our two (double) very big ship.

But you don't see the many that are suffering who are virtually struck by lightning too... Smiley

Better for Merlion to continue to take the hit from the lightning than to divert it to strike any visitor nearby. This is called self-sacrifice - the spirit of Merlion or Singaporeans...anyway remember to buy 2103 or 2821

A creative alternative is to install a small single stream fountain sprouting water out of the top of the merlion's head...

Then the lightning rod can be hidden inside the water fountain stream....

This is sure toattract more turists too... hehehe... Smiley

There is no need to put a lightning rod on top of the Merlion for protection. Install an alternative strike point close to the Merlion will do.

If putting a lightning rod on top of d merlion is funny. Looking at the surrounding, AK think that there are 2 options to provide d protection without putting a lightning rod on top of d head.

Hope TPB sub-con finds d correct professional to do d job, with consultation with d elite expert in lightning protection n prevention know-how.

I was a relief teacher (my physics is up to 2nd yr U) in a all-girl sec school without any physics tr. After demonstration the electrical field produced by the 2 terminals of a Van de Graf machine, when I was packing the machine, got distracted by students asking Qs, forgot to discharge the machine, suddenly I felt as though there were two punches landed on both my temples. Lucky I was steady and did not scream, otherwise I would have frightened the students.

My cousin was repairing a heart machine (which works something like the van de graf) in a hospital had burnt his fingers when he was careless of not discharging the machine carefully. He was put to bed for a couple of hrs by the nurse.

Kena forceb back to SJ to peep anything new, fr watching free on line video. Owing service provider cutting d bandwidth, show interrupted when d min required bdwidth not met. Mine is 3 M but observed that after mid-nite d bandwidth left less than 500k. Before mid nite, 1M is enough to view all video show on line liao.

May write to d provider, if problem persist, I will likely write to IDA to enquire.

Ha ha, d founder of that gimick is my teacher, he was d first one to do d demo there.

We enjoy other experiments in his lab as well.

Not 100% safe in car, at high rise area and under dark cloudy weather. Lightning may strike your roof of your car n discharge to ground fr the lowest metal point(tyre rim). Fr metal rim to ground, there is capacitance. Under that situation,do not place your fingers at any metal parts near d car roof, ie top door edges. If that so, u are another capacitor // with d one at the rim. Your body will share part of the discharged current.

My colleague car roof pitted n alarm system kaput, owing to d same reason above, as the potential is very huge in order to cause d damages. I explained to him.

Driving is ok. If you are inside the car, the car is a Faraday cage (a physics term). So you are safe inside it. Have you been to Science centre? Have you seen a man wearing a metallic chain and he was ok with the high voltage? It is the same concept.

I lived in kampong before and once a lightning struck a coconut tree about 50m away from our attap house (without lightning conductor) Next moment, all our wiring burst, meter exploded etc. whole house was with smoke! Thankful that no one was injured.

Lightning likes pointed object like trees, human in a clear field etc. Pointed objects make the charge density extremely high and reduces the resistance. So avoid walking on a clear field or shelter under a tree. The best place is still inside a building with lightning conductor, enjoying a cup of hot coffee and listening to the rain sound... nice.

Personnal experience...was playing football when in Secondary school in a light rain...there was a lightning strike..all of us got a electric shock in our feet..

The feeling is like that of a OTO foot reflexologist instrument they sell..only in one big and more ..hard to explain...but from then on ...i am very scare of lightning....i try not to drive or go outside.
