I think you will need to pay a small amount of fee to use the force key.

There is a Force Key available within the reach of your respective broker or TR, they can do wonder.

Broking firm pop up menu while u made a deal within sec for confirmation, thats best. Others need to go to order book to confirm, is a bit late. Go to email to see the confirmation msg, worst loh. Dissastrous, on line hanged after each transaction.

Get ready on free  STEL SMS to your TR  on screen while u make possible trading, just in case on line system hanged. AK had done that loh.

ha ha, if u are a broker, u would know the reason. Just be careful as what AK posted earlier.

Mths ago, a Japan Institution's fund manager made a wrong entry n causing the coy to vomit blood. If u observe the paper report.

D joker, fr finance institution, could be axed liao. AK hv posted d consequences in other thread earlier. Ds joker could hv been mis-charged betwn Capital Land n Capitalmall, under d character searh engine loh. Then during closed, Capland around $3 n Capmall 1.61. D moral of the story is, be careful, esp u want to take changes during d pre-closed period, esp betwn 1705-1706, where no cancellation of order is allowed, if u realised u hv made an error's order. Ds morning STI perfomred not bad as compared to d penultimate trading day on 2008. Cheers.

Some joker bought 2000 lots of a STI component share for $3 yesterday. Now it trades at ~ $1.6-$1.7.

That's a $1.30 loss per share i.e. roughly $2.6m loss. Wonder who made such a cockup.

Then again, if that trader had bought calls for STI beforehand - he might still be in profit.

Any experts know usually after new year whether will fall or continue to add on dressing?

As most of coys will table their 08FY report cards in next  Jan. Hence, not much window dressing in Jan liao. Expect most of the report cards, on most subjects, would see red. Stock px definitely would be affected. If d component stocks kena telok telok, then STI would be pressurised.

Generally, economists or even people on the street are pessimistic on 2009 economy. As more n more bad news, ie retrenchment, expected bad coy results or even closing down etc.

PS. Dun use STI yesterday gain as a cheong's yalkstick, as it was attributed to a suspected error trade in last few mins. D loses could be in millions, pity loh.

91.1 millions quoted is only for the 1st hour of trading today. It does not tell much.

Today's total volume is actually 456 millions and it is slightly better last week, but still considered to be low compared to last year's average.

91.1m is really low. I was looking at the invest section in Sunday Times and one of those that they interviewed said that during the peak, the market volume was 8 to 9 billion so I guess you can make a rough gauge of what is low.

Thanks!

There's a VOL under the STI reading and it reflect 91.1M as of now. In general, what would be the VOL reading to be consider it's not low?

moneytalk.sg      ( Date: 29-Dec-2008 02:10) Posted:

You can check the main page of SGX. The total market volume will be displayed there and it is in real time.

Sorri, just check my own trading screen and notice vol for ST index not clear.

Can try this one:

http://www.shareinvestor.com/prices.pl?action=prices&type=24&view=1&index=all

moneytalk.sg:  Think SGX not so real time anymore.  Welcome correction/better recommendation from anybody.

Think probably anything that reflects STI (eg own trading screen) can see vol.
