For retailers, not sure if Thanksgiving is bigger than Christmas…except maybe in the number of turkeys sold (i.e. the real kind, not investors).   Don’t know the date of Thanksgiving?  It’s 27 Nov 08 – good to know esp if you’re trading in the US mkt.

Andrew: Wait! Don't forget "thanksgiving" comes before Christmas. With it, u can better complete donation, self-reflection, talk to God, and maybe, just maybe, your frends may enjoy their presents more....

We 'll feel the difference after Government announcing budget stimulus measures by tomorrow!

AK opines that with current extremely weak global economy, no one industry or service sector can

escape the bad time whipping.

AK guess, with realistic gauges, local coys are not bottom yet. Gut feeling, may be

after 1QTR 09.

Hope the above are wrong, really.

Lehman ought to be punished for inventing CDO lor....that all I can say.  We should wait for Lehman Brothers : The Movie.

Jardine has never when banktrupt but owner changed hand a few times.....now it is still a juicy trading company. Like I said 100+ year ago, it is like GE now. (That is how powerful Jadine used to be.) And now they are like DBS.  Current time current price.

BTW, remember to tell your relatives to buy SAFE.  Price of SAFE is uptrend....one of my "friend" bought 6. I said why not custom design one big one.....he said maybe he may forget the code.....I said why don't you write down the code beside the SAFE then you will not forget the code ......hahaha.

Fact: He really really bought 6 SAFEs and 3 each for each of his children.....siow !!!

Lehman Brothers also can close shop... I dont see anything not happening nowadays.. I have relatives taking out CASH from DBS already..

Keppel is definitely a OK company.  The question is how much should we enter ?

Jardine is even a more OK company given it is more than 100 years old, back to the glorious day of the British Empire. BTW, they used to be the largest provider of Opium to the Qing Government. And history said that they started the Opium War. That is how powerful Jadine used to be.

And again the question is how cheap can it get ?

According to economists' poll, many felt that the current situation will reset the economy to mid-late 2002 pricing. Great Depression will most likely NOT happen as government is stepping in.....see Wiki GD for more info.

The teaser for today :

How much is the closing price of Keppel Corp (BN4) on 17 November 5:05pm closing  ?

a) $3.91

b) $4.40

c) $9.48

d) $8.80

e) $5.50

f) $4.95

Anyone ?? hee hee...

Do you consider Keppel Corporation a solid company? How about Jardine Matheson? You might want to notice their share prices at 800 points in 1998 and their share prices now at 1700 points

chances that DJ up today.. not high..

will probably down another 200pts or so.. given the expectingly poor macrodata like GDP which will be unveiled tonite.. expecting the index to slump starting from tonite for a few days... that leads to STI to down tomorrow (possibly if china bargain hunters start to profit take, then it may down further to perhaps testing 1550~1600pts)..

hope im wrong.. market please.. recover...=)

If DJ tonite pulls back 250 pts n above, then it is quite likely

we will see 15 on the first 2 digits.

Of course, hope DJ do well lah, though EU markets now mix.

So far, no major of alarm on the indexes yet.

Just like Nagasaki n Hiroshima, people there didn't expect

d doom day came overnite.

Above not a threatening call, but just AK feels, as I am so sorry, I can't chip in any

solid view on current market trend. No explicit ref at all, except numerous -ve comments

on recession related issues daily, everywhere, including Town Councils.

Hopping for the coming Asian-Pacific Conf at Lima, Chilli?? Can help this regions
