Video software developer Artivision launches IPO on Catalist Intelligent video management solutions provider Artivision Technologies is listing on the sponsor-supervised Catalist board, and raising $13.2 million in its IPO. It's selling 75 million shares priced at 20 cents each. The firm's core proprietory technology, Avision, is at the forefront of Video Content Analysis technology. Simply put, the technology, when used in video surveillance, becomes a virtual brain that makes CCTV cameras smart. The cameras will be able to interpret scenes, analyse information and detect objects. Artivision's CEO Leong Kwek Choon said the industry is poised to enjoy rapid growth. "Based on the research report, the latest research report by IMS Research, this is one of the reputable agencies for research into the security surveillance market, they actually projected a very strong growth rate of almost 70 percent, for the software, only the software of this intelligent video, going from currently below 100 million to 800 million by 2012. " Mr Leong said the proceeds from the IPO will help the firm to improve its existing products, develop new applications for new markets and to fund its sales and marketing activities. Last financial year, Artivision earned full-year revenue of more than $277,000 and gross profit of $82,000. The IPO closes at noon next Thursday, and the trading of Artivision's shares on Catalist is expected to start on August 18th.
