For alien ie. non-citizen, if you are a trader, u will not be taxed. I trade both options for stock. I don't trade stocks directly because it involves high capital.. but occasional if I like the stock, I will buy the stock and do Covered Call to collect monthly premium..

Why US market, because of high liquidity and transparency.. Singapore stock is fully manipulated..

Woah US market tax oversea investors one meh? so this means extra expenses on top of brokerage fees?

Can tell me how much you paying for the tax? And do you need convert to USD first?

I only know the returns are in USD, rest dunno le...

Please share so we can learn together

hmm why do u prefer US markets? The tax regime there is unfavourable to investors right? Cos of double taxation

You are talking about investing or trading?

If investing in Singapore STI, you can try Singapore Index Fund. I don't like Spore market because the liquidity is very low.

For me, I am a online-trader, trading in US markets. For Indices, you can choose to play Index stocks (also known as ETF) like IWM for Russell2000, SPY for S&P500 and DIA for Dow Jones.
