frankly speaking, STI performance for today not too bad already.. dropped less than 3% when others are predicting a market crash!! Just a little panic selling today and should be able to pick up given our strong economy.

Hi Panickers,

Please do consider sell those with no fundamentals due to uncertainy in market... :)

It would be good time to buy when people sell.

Ya man, big players will drive prices down and when small investor start to get panic and join in ... then they will start to collect back and make a good deal out of it. Look at the recent Sub-prime ..... if you went in during that time to pick non-financial and property counter, you have already make some decent profit liao ......

i will pay attention to local blue chips with strong fundamental ....... and those local Singapore company that the business is more locally driven ..... Drop then buy and wait .....

So stay focus ....... May SGX bless us all.

Seriously, a drop of >20% is considered a market crash. What's a little drop of 2.64% and 2.65% for the DJI and Nasdaq? YTD both those indices are still in positive territory. I consider the drop on Friday as a no more than a correction caused by fear. Whether this is the start of a downtrend is anybody's guess.

The more panicky you are and the more ready you are to sell your shares at any price (believing that you can pick them up again a lot cheaper later), the better it will be for those waiting for bargains and the shortists.

let us hope is limited so fear factor is smaller and we can get on with it and up againSmiley. Will next Monday see US make a U-turn and recover the lost ground, anyone got the latest news from US?

Hope the fund investment or the US make some adjustment so to limit the worst.

Curtis Bergh, 22 Oct 2007 Markets in the United States tanked on Friday, which was also the 20th anniversary of 'Black Monday.' The past certainly came back and haunted investors.

Gold dropped US$0.30 to US$768.40 an ounce.

Wachovia reported a US$1.3 bln write down from subprime related issues for the quarter, which helped sink earnings 10%. The stock was down US$1.74, or 3.61%, to US$46.40.

Capital One Financial Corp also running into problems in its earnings from subprime. Capital one reported a quarterly loss of US$81.6 mln vs. a profit at this time last year of more than $750 mln. It is all fear factor that is driven.

Look at the August episode on hindsight.
Those who sold are lamenting; with some of good quality stocks scaling new heights recently.

Just some opinion.

nono1975, no doubt that the prospect for S'pore looks good, but can't never turnaway from others as we are alway closely linked in trade. One good example is OIL, have impact on the market worldwide.

Hence, when the gaint sneeze, everyone get the cold chills
