I use mainly ShareJunction charts and Poems charts.

Both are about the same functionality to me... the user interface is about the same too.

Possible to smell 2 by end January '07 after its Q4 results then.

I am banking (betting) on good sales for Chartered this coming Christmas season from Microsoft's Xbox and AMD's orders.

a) Sony's new PS game console will be launched this November to ride the Christmas season too, but earlier reports said that PS would be more ex than Xbox. So, I believe Microsoft will be aggressive to flood the market with its Xbox to hang on to its current market share before PS's November launch.

b) And I believe Intel's recent  price war will AMD is good news too. This may prompt AMD to use more chips from Chartered's plant this year to counter Intel as AMD's plants are lacking capacity. AMD needs volume to maintain its good market share now.

My opinions here again. I am no stock expert though - I trade with update news and gut instinct only. Trade with care ya!

Agentina up 3 - 0! Shiok!!

Yup, heard the news on Intel's price cut last week from Taiwan.

On the positive side, AMD could  respond with more immediate orders for Chartered to counter Intel's coming price war to hold its market share???

My speculation only la ... I am into Chartered till end Year 2007 due to AMD and Microsoft - then I will be wary.

Mark me again here that Chartered will superman from Q3 onwards ... Shiok!!! (My opinion again here, trade with care)

Intel's customers said that Intel plans to reduce prices on Pentium processors by as much as 60% to reclaim market share from AMD. The customers said Intel officials told them that the price cuts will start on Jul 23.

AMD last quarter increased its share of the US$35 b computer chip market to more than 20% for the first time in over 4 years.

Intel is very aggressive about regaining market share. This will be negative for AMD and also squeeze CSM's margin.

Its gonna be a flat Q2 for chartered as reported by the company a couple of weeks ago - unless AMD coming July shipment boost its sales. Q2 results out on 21st July.

But I still tink that it will fly from Q3 onwards ..... mark me.

Btw, I think its support level is 1.40-tish (which is where it is now). Just my opinion ....

Enjoy the US and Crezh Rep world cup match starting soon ya! Dow & Nasdaq down now ....Sigh!!!

Several major US brokerages have downgraded the global semiconductor sector as a result of rising chip inventories in the channel as we enter the seasonally slower period.

And this is coming at a time when most chip companies are increasing capacity aggresively underpinned by high utilization rates and in preparation for a stronger 2H06.

In the downgrade reports, the US brokers highlight the risk that, if the rising inventory levels do not clear by 2H06, coinciding with new capacity coming on stream, it may lead to another downturn.

Global semiconductor stocks have taken a beating in May, in line with the global markets' downturn. However, if the above fears hold true, it's likely to result in disappointing results ahead, depressing share prices further.

Chartered's price is falling due to the above fears and also in line with global semiconductor stocks.

Hey guys ... Great news!

Chartered started producing chips for AMD this month, with 1st order shipping out in July (see below website) Shiok ya!!!

http://sg.biz.yahoo.com/060522/3/410e7.html

Though it forecasts a flat Q2, who knows Chartered may throw in some good surprises?

Maybe its a good time to buy from now to the traditional slow market during World Cup? This will position ourselves for its Q4 results  - when production will increase for Christmas orders of Microsoft Xbox. With Sony's new PS game due for release this Nov, I bet Microsoft will want to stay much ahead as it possibly can to grant more market shares. Yet, again ... my opinion only.

Its me again ....

Forgetten to mention that a local financial house (can't remember the name - OCBC or something) had raised the target price of Chartered in SGX to SGD 2.00 after its Q1 report last month. Last time Chartered nearly hit SGD 2.00 was in Oct 2003.

Lets see how high it will go this year - my opinion only.
