why, geojam, interested?

haha.

separately: i thought that particular research was done on fund managers/experts vs monkeys, not TA ppl vs monkeys...at least, there was no mention if they used TA or whatever mtd.... unless it's a dif research we're talking abt?

As i always say that fund managers are there to create an impression that he or she is the expert.

If they are so good ,why are they still employed rather than be on their own.

Hey geojam,

Don't worry lah..... I wasn't offended. Just replying to your post tongue-in-cheek.  haha...

Anyway, I vaguely remember seeing that article somewhere also but don't remember it mentioning just TA people.

In fact, just a month ago, there was an article on Sunday Times where they interviewed some experienced investors and they found that most of them couldn't even beat the bank's interest rate in their overall profits.

Hi sporegal,

U are my sifu and i will not do anything to hurt u.

The research was done to show that in sharetrading,It does not need any so call "expert' to get it rite.It has nothing to do with human race or things like that.

Sorry for the miscommunication.

hahaha... I mean what's the point of comparing it that way... I should think it's a rather meaningless comparison...

One should insteal deal with dollar amounts.

This way, 3 lots of Kepcorp will be equivalent to 300 lots of Centrillion for example... And that's not cheap... hehe... :)

iPunter, what I meant was that for the same number of lots bought, penny stocks are cheaper.

Well geojam and sohguanh... about the monkey research experiment you mentioned, its quite interesting to know that you're comparing TA people to monkeys.... :(

My success rate is around 70%. So does that qualify me to be part of the human race?

I think this is the first time I have to disagree with you Gal ... you said  >$1 stocks requires more capital and vice versa for <$ stocks.

Now, how can this be true? On the contrary, penny stocks can require more capital !

If you believe in the ape evolution, humans descended from apes so equating TA to monkey is apt I would think. Afterall what separate we humans from apes? We mate, urine, shit, eat, drink, sleep the same way as them too! :)

Now is monkey the same as ape? Hmm... cousin family?

I think i am going to upset alot of TA expert.

A research was done by asking 10 TA experts to pick 10 counters.

Also ask 10 monkeys to pick 10 counters.

result at end of one year is 5 rite and 5 wrong for both the TA experts and the monkeys.

i expect to be shot.

sohguanh is married with one kid recently. The best FD rates is from the other online forum ppl contribute wan. The rest is heard from my frens and relatives. So I believe in sharing knowledge.

I diversify into different forums also. Get more knowledge that way hehehehe... Hulumas is in that same forum as me and sadly his investment strategies has been frowned upon by some resident forummers there :)

Sohguanh always give the best advise on FD rates---Must have lots of money for placement.

wonder the 2 ladies are still eligible(just kidding).

For me my bank statement has been in the red for the last 10 years,at least.Do not know when i will ever clear my debt.

But on a serious note, one most important rule (or at least for me) to play the share mkt is to have a solid cash flow schedule.

i use my spreadsheet to plan a 5 year cash flow.

Cheers

and hmm. agree with you that it's the pennies that are having their turn in the sun now, but it's all part of the cycle anyhow. no need for us to be in the market all the time. sometimes good to take a breather. :)

nope, don't play contra--not unless the share price goes up _that_ much within that time that i can sell. i usually pay all on the transaction day itself.

miss elf, are you a contra player ? That is you buy and sell your stock within T + 3 days ? If you are, then it does not matter what is the share price cuz within that 3 days you will let go at a profit or loss. It is like CFD with 3 days timeline.

hm..yea sohguanh. My TA trades for the past three weeks was 3 counters, they're all above $1, by in-and-out i make abt 20c more, as opposed to staying in Ho Bee (my 1st of the 3) and making the 3c extra from the dif between its current of 1.48 and my sell price.

and erm. diversification i took to mean in different sectors. not just pennies vs dollar-plus stocks. i mean, if you're buying all construction stocks of all sizes, then, there's really no diversification.
