Published on BT 15 Aug 2007 By R SIVANITHY :-

It was originally listed on Sesdaq in 2000 and was upgraded to the main board last September.

Locally, the Building and Construction Authority estimates that there will be a total of $19-22 billion worth of contracts to be awarded in 2007, so the company is well poised to benefit from this large market.

Lee Metal's 30 per cent owned Indonesian associate PT Indoferro is expected to start production next year with an eventual target annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of steel billets.

That Lee Metal is enjoying a decent 2007 thanks to the property boom is obvious from its recent half-year results for the period ended June 30 - the company announced a 61 per cent rise in revenue to $746 million and a 67 per cent jump in net profit to $7.2 million. With 396 million shares in issue, this works out to a half-year earnings per share (EPS) of just under two cents.

Assuming that the company does at least as well in the second half, a full-year EPS of four cents and a present share price of 26 cents (versus an asset value of 16 cents per share) means that the stock is valued at a price-earnings of under 7 times, certainly not expensive by any stretch of the imagination.

After placement announcement last week, price still on the rise.

Appears to be very strange, unless something is brewing!

I just know that they used to be a major player for collecting old metals to trading for re-cycle and progress to be a stocklist for supplying to construction projects. Correct me if I am wrong ! Good Luck.

Careful now alot of companies XD so drop price liao. Lee and Poh and King all running but all sell down after XD. For long term shareholders wait a while for price to drop further before deciding to top up.

Lee Metal looks set to run again.  With the Indo sand ban, steel related counters will do extremely well.  Even if there is no ban, there has been a noticeable pick up in the use of alternative constuction materials already.  Plus, the construction industry looks set to cheong for the next few years, at least till 2010!
