There are so many stocks and those traders out there cannot possibly focus on so many. They take turns to decide which ones to play up each day......

ASL Marine has dropped to really attractive levels and cheap valuations. Its order book is already fixed in the millions of dollars. Today's issue of buisness times forecast oil and gas play in 2007.

There is always a period of time when stocks do not get notice. The gem ones are like "sleeping tigers". But wait till they roar.......

Is it possible for a share to be fundamentally good and undervalued as mentioned by the analysts but traders just ignore the share for long periods of time?

I think 1 reason is becos in a prolong bull mkt, people are more in interested in trading "hot" and "popular" stocks thus ignoring these shares.

Comments??

HAha... this is where they don't put their money where the horse's mouth is. Or maybe the valuations though undervalued, but still not good enough for THEM TO CONSIDER as yet. Please also try to understand that all valuations are forecasts from future earnings.

Sometimes maybe some Analysts just trying to be kind to the companies concerned and preferred to remain silence.Cheers!

These are all expensive stocks with a low unit price. You need to buy many lots for the same dollar, and for that, if you buy low, you will be may rewarded handsomely (or prettily) in % terms if you can wait for the day it will "cheong". But if you buy highly, then the reverse is also possible.

But sometimes all the judges (analysts) say that its a undervalued stock but the prices still continue its downtrend leh. An example of this is Stamford Tyres.

Valuation of a Stock is just like a beauty contest where the judges (Analysts in the case of stocks)  decide. Remember, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!  They're all human like you and me and they too have a variety of views. The Bullish ones will come up with 'under-valued' reports and The Bears said it is over-valued. Don't believe me, just go and read the reports from different Analysts and form your own conclusion, if any! Cheers!

Jesse Livermore, acknowledged as the greatest stock trader the world has ever known, is an inspiration to many traders since his death. One of his famous books is:-

 How To Trade In Stocks

For TA people like me, there's no such thing as a cheap or expensive stock.

Because I only follow trends, a stock price has only one of three behaviors - uptrending, downtrending or stagnant.

Look at Sincere Watch. For most of the year it had cheap valuations and it hardly moved. The Market "seemed" to have killed this stock and showed no interest. But it is now $1.03

Some companies do not pay analysts to do write up for the stocks so the stocks do not get pushed up. Yes, you need to be very patient but fundamentals should prevail in the end:). All the best to all. Merry X'mas and Happy New Year !!
