Remember that it tried to IPO at US$0.85  BUT aborted its plan. Only to float again at US$0.45. Does that tell something about it's management or the lead manager for the IPO. A Point to ponder. Anyone care to comment on this?

A good company with very sound business model. I agree with the CEO and think it's a very good price to buy in at this level. PE is very low. Noticed no research report YET on this co. Thus, i would encourage all investor to closely take a look at this stock. Vested. And intend to hold this for the long term..

It said that its fourth-quarter net profit more than doubled due to improved efficiency and freight savings.

The San Francisco-based firm, which describes itself as a "gas station for ships", earned US$13.7 million in the Oct-Dec period, compared with US$6.8 million a year ago. Its full-year 2006 net profit was up 16.8% to US$57.8 million, from US$49.5 million in 2005.

We achieved record revenue and earnings, which we believe is a strong testament to Chemoil's ability to extract margins at all key stages of the supply chain, our effective risk management strategies as well as our sound business model," CEO Robert Viswanathan Chandran said in a statement.

Chandran said the company had proceeded with several initiatives since its listing, including a joint venture to build an oil storage terminal in Fujairah, in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the purchase of a crude oil carrier to enhance its storage capacity.

Shares in Chemoil, which has a stock market value of US$737 million, are up about 23% from their issue price of US$0.45.

The company had at first abandoned plans to list on the stock market in October, after the offer failed to generate demand as a correction in oil prices coincided with the closing period of the sale.

The firm had initially attempted to float at US$0.85 a share, hoping to raise as much as US$374 million.

It is planning to take over 6 companies - Helios Terminal Corporation, Link Marine, Olympic Shipping, Pebble Beach Shipping Company, Pine Valley Inc and Cypress Point Inc - from Andorra Services Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong and wholly owned by Chemoil's executive chairman and CEO Robert Chandran.

Chemoil said the acquisitions are 'synergistic' to its business and will have a positive impact on its financial performance in the current financial year.

I dont think it will be good for shareholders as what is the purpose of having an IPO? Basically to expand its business, repay borrowings and not to buy back one's shares. If there is exess liquidity,Y don't they return to shareholders then???
