WHEN SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENT firm Techcomp dual-listed its shares eight months ago in Hong Kong to supplement its Singapore listing, investors were no doubt wary of the poor track record of companies following the same route.

Found three threads on Techcomp!

This is by far the one of my best performing in terms of percentage! Bought at a low of 20 cents, simply thinking that it is below IPO price. After the bonus, average price below 15 cents. 30 lots becomes 45 lots. Such strong performance already make up for other small trading loses, and still give hefty profit. Wanted to buy more after ex-bonus but not much chance. Well, looks like for good company, anytime is a good time to buy.

Previous strong performer in my portfolio is CWT and GP Batteries.

techcomp's shares are illiquid and once in a while a quick jump of > 10% and subsided, it's dividend is standard ard 1cts. But it's biz line is good. tester for various viruses/poison(to make it simple).

There was a year, it made big forex mistake but he said since then they would be careful.

hope he can get the selling right of radioactive level devices(the in-trouble now)......:)

This imminent three bagger now has not one but three interesting catalysts:

  1.   Dual listing in HK.

2. Beneficiary of weakening Yen.   (Assuming the Japanese government print money to stimulate the economy after the tragic tsunami).

  3.   Additional broker coverage likely.

Techcomp's results for 2010 were outstanding, but the story for 2011 is even stronger as the losses from Europe will turn to profits.   Assuming they can turn approx US$1.5mn of loss to profit, while keeping growing their core manufacturing business, and seeing a pick up in their distribution, then US$13mn of profit is easy (management is confident of all three improvements as per this weekend's The Edge story).   That equates to less than 6x PE for one of Asia's most credible scientific technology companies.   It should be on 20x.

471,000 shares done today, stock closed up 1.5 cents at 42 cents.
After a long long slumber, sleepy Techcomp has woken up. Will there be more action for the rest of the week?

With good FA , Techcomp 's TA is improving now . DIs are just crossing positively , ADX is at 14 n  about to turn up . Aroon indicator is also positive  . Bollinger band is tightening . MACD has never gone below the neutral line n has a positive cross now . All these would translate into a positive outlook of  Techcomp .

AM I MISSING SOMETHING?  Techcomp just gets more and more exciting.  It is going to do US$120mn of sales this year.  The margin will be about 9% (could be better as the balance of the business shifts to the higher margin manufacturing business).  Since the 1:2 split, it now has 232.5mn shares.  This equals 6.5c of Singapore dollar earnings (confusingly it reports in USD so you need to remember to multiply by 1.4).  A proprietary scientific equipment manufacturer should trade on 20x earnings, but Techcomp also has a big distribution side which is more like a 8x earnings business.  Blending the two, and putting it on 13x, the stock should be trading at 84c, versus the current 35c.

Just in case you think I am being too confident, they did US$105mn in 2009 (a tough global year), and made acquisitions during the year.  If they don't do US$130mn, I'd be shocked.  With the Euro falling, their products just get more competitive.  Then check out this statement from their year end press release:

Our established manufacturing and distribution operations in China have benefited from the PRC 4 trillion stimulus package and will continue to ride on the country’s strong economic growth. Strategic plans have been drawn up to build our European networks to ensure the sustainability of the business in the long term. All these will amalgamate into a pretty exciting outlook for the Group in 2010

The only things wrong with this stock is (1) No-one covers it (2) It is too illiquid.

Please post a reply if you disagree.

Since Techcomp broke out of its bull flag formation on 5 April 2010 at 57 cents  , its trend has gone all the way up to 67 cents on 28 April 2010. Its RSI ( 14 day ) have been making positive divergences while  average daily volume was still healthy . The only n strong resistance is at 69.5 cents . Techcomp  may take the opportunity to consolidate after the Xall date , then it  may resume its upward trend again
