don't waste your time lah! BBs will grab 1st if there's any counter offer, left only peanut for you. Not worth wait until neck long long for thatt peanut. Me throw away long long ago after the annoument (i think 1.15).
This is a long process.........going on forever and ever and ever....
Take a look! The buying vol is fantastic! By the million...wonder what's up?
Need not have to wait for another counter offer, even with additional 10% higher will be from 1.20+10%=1.32. Why not consider going into another venture with much higher potential?
my advice is the same for STATS...accept the offer and sell at $1.20, or sell in open market near to $1.20 and move to other semiconductor stocks such as Chartered (safest) or other smaller players...good luck :)
from STATS (laugh to the bank) to UTAC (smile to the bank as portfolio is smaller) to CHARTERED (mouth still close as portfolio is big and waiting for news disregarding analyst call)...patience and holding power is the key...good luck for those who hold semiconductor stocks in second half of year :)
At 1.16 plus brokage it should be closed to 1.20. Why should pay 1.20 and lose brokage. When you sell the shres to the offeror, you don't pay brokage. Ppl buy at 1.16 in anticipation of a better offer. Or for the 4cts margin if the throw it to offeror. Of course you must have the holding power.
BBs control the price so that shareholders will willing to sell at $1.20. If the price more than $1.20 nobody want to sell then wasting time and money, I guess right?
Take over price is $1.20 per share and right now trading at 1.16-1-17. This implies gain of $0.03 per share for those who bought at $1.17.
But why has the counter not gone up to $1.20?
Can anyone advise?
Cheers! Still holding with CPF:)
The deal, done as a scheme of arrangement, requires approval by 75% of shareholders in order to go ahead. Texas Pacific and Affinity said they already have undertakings from investors with 17.2% of the shares.
Given the takeover situation CIMB has maintained Outperform and rising target from S$1.10 to S$1.32 based on 1.8x CY07 P/BV. This peg UTAC at similar valuation to Temasek's offer for STAT.
So, just hope someone counter offer soon ... keke
The deal valued the tech company at 1.6 times its book value, almost half the value of its competitors in Taiwan, but analysts said the price was reasonable.
"We believe that the offer price of 1.6 times price-to-book value is reasonable, given 12% ROE and positive and improving free cash flow," said Morgan Stanley analysts Sunil Gupta and Pey Herng Yap in a research note.
Shares of UTAC's Taiwan competitor Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. trade at 3.12 times book, while Siliconware Precision Industries Co. has a price-to-book ratio of 3.24.
While Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse recommend that shareholders accept the offer, CIMB-GK analyst Khoo Chen Hsung said that long-term investors should wait for a better offer.
"We believe UTAC deserves a similar takeover valuation as for STAT given UTAC's fragmented shareholder base, a superior ROE and stronger earnings growth prospects," Khoo said in a note on Wednesday.
Analysts also said that UTAC's takeover could mark the start of a consolidation exercise in the Singapore technology sector.
My guess will be very similar to STATS-ChP, if Global AT&T successfully acquire majority (above certain percentage ..?) of the share, no choice we need to sell to them @ 1.20. However, if they fail to do so, may be price will go down, or if someone else counter offers at higher price then will be interesting. Hopefully, my guess is correct.
Anybody can further enlighten us?
hi Ryadar
In this case, after A&T fully acquire Utac and afterwhich delist utac, what will happen to the share value that we are holding?
Sorry ... should be Global AT&T Electronics
Good news .... see www.sgx.com under UTAC's announcement.
Global AT&T will acquire UTAC @ 1.20 ! Let see how it'll be traded tomorrow.
Cheers for those vested.
twinkle Great work thanks for the link. I hope it is on the higher side between 1.10-1.20/ Anyone can give a valuation. is it under price?
anyone has news of the trading halt?
