Mr Dow 1000 - those who followed his advice since July 2010  hv  missed out  big opportunities  b'cos after his doomsday prediction, Dow rose from 9,600 to 12,391(+29%). Even after the killer  earthquarke that rocked the world markets, Dow is still standing tall at 11,855 (+23%) Mar 15 2011 vs Jul 2010.

Below is the extract from NYTimes (Jul 6 2010).

  • Prechter’s Dow 1,000 Doomsaying Draws Crowds

Elliott Wave guru Robert Prechter is back in the news today, with Friday’s article in The New York Times by Jeff Sommer now the most e-mailed article on Nytimes.com.

Bob Prechter, among the Dysphoric Luminaries suggesting there’s pain in store for the economy and for markets, told Sommer last week in a series of emails and phone calls that an “epic downswing is under way” and that investors should move into cash and Treasuries, exclusively, for years to come.

The coming doom is likened by Prechter to the South Sea Bubble of 1720, which cut off people’s appetite for buying stocks for 100 years.

Prechter thinks the Dow Industrials could see a greater-than-90% decline, to less than 1,000 over the next five or six years.

The Dow currently is up almost 100 points from Friday’s close at 9,784.

Elliott Wave Theorist, FREE until Mar-21

In response to the dramatic selloff in recent days, Elliott Wave International has released a free issue of Robert Prechter's Elliott Wave Theorist. EWI says:

" It includes more of Robert Prechter's experience than you’ll ever read in a single issue -- all 30-plus years of it. What matters is that he uses his experience at a moment when it can do the most good, namely when investors are most vulnerable. This is a unique opportunity for you to see what Prechter’s subscribers see. Don't miss out! This free issue is only available through March 21."

    Hi kellychang,

You can learn the basics of elliott wave theory through the internet. Elliott Wave International is one such website. They have some free educational material, including a tutorial. Click here to access it. You may have to sign up as a club member though, which is free and gives you access to other free resources.

Elliott Wave Theory relates price behaviour to mass human psychology, it's not an exact science but a very good framework to understand the market. Good luck on your journey, and feel free to drop by my blog where i employ elliott wave in my analysis. I'll be happy to answer any questions if i am able to.
