SingTel 2nd quarter net profit misses view, hurt by currency
Southeast Asia's largest telecommunications operator Singapore Telecommunications Ltd reported a 0.3 per cent rise in second quarter net profit on Thursday, missing expectations as the strong Singapore dollar hit earnings overseas.
The company saw revenue fall 9 per cent compared with the same period last year, hit mainly by the drop in the Australian dollar.
SingTel's major overseas businesses are in Australia, India and Indonesia, whose currencies have all depreciated by around 10 per cent against the Singapore dollar over the past year.
SingTel posted a net profit of S$870 million (US$696.78 million), below the average S$893 million forecast of five analysts polled by Reuters. Its earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were S$1.30 billion, up 3 per cent compared with a year ago.
When is the license being issue in US or China ...what can it do to boost revenue ?... This stock was very hot in 2009/10 ,at once stage share price nearly close to a dollar...

Will issue of 4G license boost sinotel revenue and thus stock price? Is it time to stand by?
The special auditor of Sinotel Technologies, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has drawn up a list of recommendations for the firm to improve on its procurement and payment process.
Sinotel said on Tuesday that PwC had advised it to set up a formal purchasing committee to oversee significant procurements this will ensure that controls over the selection of vendors are adhered to.
PwC recommended that the purchasing committee comprise employees holding senior positions in the administration, finance and purchasing departments of the company's operating subsidiaries.
Sinotel revealed last April that three of its employees had cheated it of 105.4 million yuan (US$16.8 million) through unauthorised fictitious purchases.
Is this stock worth to take a look this year? People say, this year is the year of china recovery..
Would the 4G story in China help to push the share price up?

It drop to a low of about 11cts with few lots done only before recovering to current 25cts although profit and turnover still on uptrend.

watch out for hengxin..going to break out soon ..ok to buy at 15cts.record low about 11cts but few lots done previously

Sinotel at 11cts is back to the day when co announced unthorised purchases of RMB 105.4mil,with its NTA at S$0.462 and its former rights issue 1 for 4 at $0.28 on Sept 2009,its time the share price recover to a respectable 17-20cts or higher
With S chips recovering this shd move too

AGM at Warren Golf Club 7 Nov..CEO Jia Yue Tng absent himself..RMB 105.4 mil,from unauthorised purchases ,74mil had been recovered..bal co is confident of recovering..One of the E.D was questioned why he sold shares before the fraud was discovered..recalled this year early March 2012 Sinotel shot up to 24cts and a months later fraud was detected ,can it be so coincident,wonder why SGX or CAD never called up this director for insider trading..bunch of all chinese helicopter need thebAC chairman to translate or the investor relation officer to do the translation to english
