BANGKOK) Thai Hua Rubber, Thailand's third biggest rubber exporter, is adding more planting areas in neighbouring Laos to take advantage of stronger rubber prices as it prepares for an initial public offering, possibly in Singapore, next year.

Chief executive Luckchai Kittipol said the company would boost plantings to 28,800 hectares over the next five years from just 320 hectares planted in June.

Rubber prices have surged since last year as soaring global oil prices forced tyre makers to switch to natural rubber from synthetic rubber, a petrochemical product.

Mr Luckchai said the company expected to produce up to 50,000 tonnes of RSS3 annually from Laos once its expansion plan begins to deliver.
