I would support any legislation that prevents debacles like CAO and Citiraya from happening again.

Hi,

Hahaha... good to see university students in this forum.

My response -

1. Yes I have. Not affected.
2. Nope
3. NA
4. Don't know about it so no comment.
5. NA
6. Wah... the paper is really long and chim. Can you summarise for us? Frankly, not many people would really concern themselves with MAS regulations because these regulations affect those listed companies mainly.

We are a group of students from Singapore Management University (SMU) who are doing a module in Business, Government and Society. As part of the curriculum, we were expected to perform research on the potential impact of new proposed policies. For our team, we were tasked to tackle the recent proposal to amend the Securities and Futures Act (SFA) and Financial Advisers Act (FAA). The policy consultation paper (5th December 2006) can be found on http://www.mas.gov.sg/masmcm/bin/pt1Reports_and_Consultation_Papers.htm

And we have a few questions that we would like to seek help with! :)

1. Have you heard of the financial scandals involving companies such as Mitsui Oil, China Aviation Oil and Citiraya?
2. Were you affected by any of these scandals, as an investor? If so, how were you affected?
3. Are you aware of the financial regulations newly proposed by MAS, as mentioned above?
4. How did you come to know about it?
5. Do you support it and do you think it is fair?
6. How do you think it will affect investors like you in the future?

As you are part of Singapore's investors, we acknowledge your importance in this matter and highly value your relevant opinion. Therefore, we seek your kind assistance in providing your views on the following questions. Thanks! :)
