Corrections, the Chinese and Caucasians mentioned are actual migrant africans in the host countries.  I am sure many of you know the modus operandi as follows:

1. Send you an email telling a sad story and their "plight" or political persecution and inviting you to partner in a inheritance scheme, or some hidden source or dormant bank account with huge sums.  The share is 60/40 or 70/30 just to make it look businesslike.

2.  Ask for your personal particulars, id, passports and picture.  They will also send theirs for you, if you request, but all are faked.

3. Another party, usually a "barrister' has to be contacted so that he could do the "court documents" and then you will later be asked for from a few hundred dollars to pay as court fees.  This fee must be sent or else they cannot proceed.

4.  Once you send the money, more money will be requested.  Then more money, or else you are required to turn up in another country to sign documents.  You must bring the money there, or else you won't be able to complete the deal.

5.  Usually the scam is to entice the gullilble.  But some big company directors have been known to be fooled and paid tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Just for sharing.

Nothing can be done by police.  Originated first from Nigeria, then spread to Africa, then to UK, Russia, China, Canada, Dubai and now Malaysia.

People behind the scams are mainly Africans, mostly Nigerians, but nowadays even some Chinese and Caucasians are picking it up from them.  Be careful.

wonder what authorities do?  would police reply to the given email address and express an interest to help?

There is UK Lottery, Microsoft, Barclays Bank, Lloyds Bank, Abu Dhabi etc... Seems like they are from UK. Related to inheritance, money locked by the new government, etc. Dont even bother opening, just delete.

Very common in the internet.  Everyday I received at least 5 of these types of swinders' email.  All they want is to hook you on the pretext of giving you money thru an inheritance that usually amounts to millions of US dollars.  Later on another party will be introduced, and you will be requested to send money to him via western union.

Be careful, there is no free lunch in this world.  Never send money and never reply these fraud mails, known as Nigerian advance fees scams.
