Ya...who care. They can very easily get their money back, each time just following the private sector six leader indicator...starting with the bankers who earning top several million a year.

who's care about the top Civil Servants ..I am referring to lower rank civil servants who man the checkpoints, renew your passports, repair your house broken pipes, policemen patrol the streets, hospital staff attending to emergency ..etc.  Top earners  know that they can get triple the rewards when economy recovers due to some smart formula.. but the lower ranks by virtue of their numbers will always get the least..

Ha ha kidding lah, just a normal working soldier, not an officer leh. Playing hit n hide games for 33 over yrs just to secure 4 bowls of rice daily for living. Not easy ah.

60k civil servants got double blow ds yr, no bonus ds yr still a pc of cake.

Most of d gov servant gratuity are tied to so-called Premium Scheme. And ds scheme is managed by Gov Investment Body!!! AK remembers while I was in service, my investment capital lost 45k in 2001 alone due to -ve profit in investment by d body that yr. I changed my Premium Scheme to less dynamic option, as being advised by d authority, in d following yr. Untill 2006, some yr still see red in d investment. While I retired in 2006, I got 80k less in my gratuity. I really regretted to convert my pension scheme to d Premium Scheme, recommended by xxx h2o hse xxx in 2000. Then most of d pensioners had converted to d new scheme as there is underlying unwritten rules which is unfavourable to d involved. Luckily, my wife n I still can stain d CSC benefit for life, as nowadays mdical fees attributed to 20% or more of your saving during d retirement life.

Hence, for those civil servant going to retire next yr, likely they will feel pain as well, but may not as pain as AK one loh, most of them may not in d pension scheme b4 2000.

Most of the new or young civil servants (CS) are not under pension and their medical benefit is minima. So the turnover of young CS is higher than the old CS. On the other hand, the bosses do not like the old CS bcos the old CS are not that innocent to be bluffed by their bosses' wayang for the even higher superiors. The bosses would need the old CS to produce result but use the young CS to help them to wayang. For Performance Bonus, more young CS are given higher performance grade B while the most of old CS are usually given grade C. Only those boot-licking old CS are given grade B.

I have also notice many private service companies are also very fixed in their ways and even less flexible than civil services.

Gov service no good lah!!.First to get cut in bad times but last to get pay rise in good times... In good times, they will first form committee/union etc to look into pay review, then talk for very long. By the time we get our pay review, next recession comes. If lucky, we get something. However, bad times, all eyes on us. Under pressure to cut to lead by example... Where got good?? Only advantage is job security. However, nowadays, all contracts mainly. So not much advantage.

No AVC is a small price to pay for relatively good job security.
