One can never pleases everyone in a lost investment w/ or w/o certain knowledge or with fully loaded investiveable knowledges. teeth53 thot so... http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/403136/1/.html MAS announcement brings relief to some, raises more issues for others SINGAPORE: The Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) announcement that over half of the investors who complained about their investments in Lehman-linked products will receive compensation may come as a relief for some. But others said it has only raised more issues that need to be addressed. Investors whom Channel NewsAsia spoke to said the announcement by MAS holds no surprises and still fails to address certain questions. Most investors also said they would continue to pursue the issue of compensation with their financial institutions.

Cheating in elections are quite rampant as we hear often happening everywhere. There are many ways to cheat, one most commonly used is ghost voters and ballots dumping. So I agree with victorian and would say that pre-registration is important and names list of voters who registered for the election must be exhibited to prevent foul play.

Unforuntately, any form of petition or poll for it to be credible requires identification. Rubber stamping a yes or no on serial nos does not cut it cos duplication is real but identification cancels this out.

Even in the US elections, registration is mandatory before one can vote.

He who created to said EP is good for Spore, must act upon it faithfully, the one and only one from...

So sign up and for credibility, one has to put full name and NRIC for this to be credible.
Another one idea proposal (is show of hand) by hand rubber stamping a YES or NO on a serial nos (to indicate, no names given), just a signature is required  to indicate is your effort, a show of support

As elected president even in a ceremonial role, he is entitled constitutionally to voice out as his office is independent from the Government. The Government would have no choice but to answer every single query publicly when he opens his mouth or start something going as oppose to a single MP in parliment.

If we are going to pay $3 million + per year for a rubber stamp, i guess we better pay for a rubber stamp that can at least bite or make some noise.

For an elected presidency to be really functional holding the second key to the treasury, the key must be a master key, otherwise it is useless.  The master key must be in the hands of the president and not in politicians'.  Furthermore, just a holder of key to cash is not really helpful because there is no other power to exercise.  It makes the EP just a messenger boy for the political leaders in power. Just a private opinion.

It is good to support a public figure who has shown to have a golden heart to stand for election as an elected president.  The rules of the game is not so easy to comply, however.  I hope TKL has all that it takes to qualify.  If so, I will surely give my support.

1st and foremost, we can start by encouraging him by putting up our signature to the petition (I've done that). The large nos will encourage him in due time.

Being elected by the people as an independent President as opposed by one nominated by the establishment will send a very strong signal politically. As oppose to being an MP, the impact will be limited since there is no party machinery backing or even a semblance of a group of opposition MPs in Parliament. TKL will be out voted & ignored politically.

As president even in a ceremonial role, he is entitled constitutionally to voice out as his office is independent from the Government. The Government would have no choice but to answer every single query publicly when he opens his mouth or start something going as oppose to a single MP in parliment.

Although we had a slight childish brush before, somehow I like the way you post your threads.Yes politics "is" a dirty game.  Sometimes it is life and death, so you can understand why people in power are acting the way they did.  Losing power means the end of a "king's" lifestyle. Gaining power into politics is like strike a lottery.

POLITIC = THE DIRTIEST BUSINESS IN THE WORLD. Therefore, if you can't be mean and dirty, don't be a politician. For me, whoever can serve me better will get my vote and it doesn't matter whether he/she is white, black or yellow! Cheers!

Talk is always cheap and free isn't it?
