I'm sorry to hear this. But I'm you detected it early at stage 1.

I have a friend with nose cancer and had to go for surgery. But he was completely cured after that. So keep your spirits up!

It was luck that I found out bat my 1st stage cancer. I had a bad pain in my neck (probably due to humps, or teochew called it Pig's SKin or something liket that). I got painkillers from various clinics but still it won't go away. 1 nite, i was in such pain that i wento CGH's A&E and the doctor who attend to me put in a scope thru my nose and viola! she noticed some weird thing and immediately gave me a new appt to go for thorought checkup. That's how I found out abt my cancer.

No I don;t smoke at all, and drink very occassionally, such as weddings, friend's gathering...

Correction- Government where Ministers should top the list. When problems come in by the truckload, they have to prove their worth or lose their million dollar jobs.

for 1st stage cancer, there's no need to take any expensive drug/medication. I've stage 1 nose cancer b4 and all they do is radiotherapy. For me, I was under co's medical so can claim up to 8k, the rest payable by medisave so essentially only need to pay cash for consultation (for subsidised patients, $21 per trip per week). I was considered a subsidised patient as I showed them proof that I've outstanding Uni loans to pay back (did not take any $ from family) + my wife happen to be pregnant so my case get stronger. u may wan to advice yr bank employee frd to try to go under subsidise

How is the semi-conducter industry doing?

I heard from some friends in there that business is quite bad. Pay cut.

Worst still. I know bank employee who got cancer 1st stage who is under full medical claim kena retrenchment. Prob high medical claim. Poor broke, no more medical claim + no job. Dunno how he gonna survive, if got money to eat no money left to buy drug for his cancer how?? Banks generally provide very good medical perks in singapore.

Isn't these people going to die first in the recession, how to solve this problem? Sad... People will just try to forget, cause they think their job security more important. You can eat bread and water during recession, if no money to buy expensive drug  die man.

Pray hard you got good health during recession. Probably people will say he got insurance and medisave. But anyone care about cancer medical treatment cost. if not enough mean eat less drug to contain the cancer growth. If not how?

White collar job at MOM, closed liao, except gen workers.

Priority given to foreigners, esp Chinese Nationals.

You will feel the above when u take buses nowadays.

Not difficult to recruit Chinese Nationals as currently

many people in China are now starting to return to their villages to

do farming again, as they were retrenched.

Also at risk are people who are new to the company and those who have reached their career ceiling.

In the later, it is quite tragic because these are usually middle-age people who have devoted many years of their lives to a company. They receive yearly increments but are not promoted. Higher pay but relatively low responsibilities. Prime target for retrenchment.

Companies have the tendency to retrench non-professional/General/Support Staff.  Professional/skilled staff takes a longer time to train hence companies are likely to retain them.
