I think the Minister had betrayed his own father and grandfather for damaging the good images they had given to Malaysia before. If such politicians are so unrepentant, I am afraid we shall not be able to the light for our Malaysia in many years to come.

The High Court today ordered Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim to pay Bank Islam RM66 million (US$18.521 million) for a loan he took in 2001 to purchase Guthrie Bhd shares.
When Khalid was in BN, everything is OK! Now that he is in Pakatan, everything is NOT OK. To recollect, Khalid was the CEO of PNB when the famous dawn raid was made on 7 Sep81. While the Brits were still enjoying the late summer and before they can finish their cup of tea and scones Guthrie was taken over on the London Stock Exchange. The pride of the British empire was dented. Tun Ismail (brother in law of Tun Mahathir and former Bank Negara governor) was Chairman of PNB then. When Khalid wanted to retire, PNB offered to sell 20% of Guthrie shares to Khalid as a golden handshake deal at MARKET PRICE. At that point of time Khalid took up the first 5% or 50 million shares in Guthrie. However, with the change of leadership in PNB and following the sacking of Anwar Ibrahim, a witch hunt started in all GLC's. Of course, PNB reneged on the deal and refused to sell to Khalid the balance of 15%. The rest of course is history and the fact that Khalid is now in PR does not help.

Pakatan Rakyat leaders ambitiously wish to replace BN and take over the federal regime in the next general elections (teeth53 thot: i think not..that is real fast track..to real as Pakatan is not in real formation to form a proper policies to get every department to govt a country like Malaysia and running a conutry is not like running a state). But Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin gave Pakatan Rakyat a "life-span" of one to two years, means that Pakatan Rakyat is unable to sustain until the next general elections. UMNO does not underestimate Anwar. Otherwise, it wouldn't have asked its members to repeatedly criticised Anwar as a traitor to Malays. Meanwhile,
Of course, Pakatan will not let the prophecy come true. It is going to hold a meeting 13 August in order to eliminate internal differences and decide its future direction. For political interests.

The breaking down of our public institutions - the police, MACC, judiciary, parliament, etc, will have a lasting and

The lawmaker Ronnie Liu, who is in charge of local government affairs, said on Friday after a meeting between the state's chief minister Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and industry representatives that there would be no blanket ban.
'There is no ban on the sale of beer and liquor in Selangor state,' he told AFP. 'But there will be some form of self-regulation by the various shops and outlets that sell alcohol. For instance they will not sell it to Muslims and those below 18 years old,' he told AFP.
The laws are rarely enforced, but last month a religious court sentenced a 32-year-old Muslim model to six strokes of the cane for drinking beer

Thankfully the catalystic effect of the empire break-up and 2 party governments would probably bring the country towards more transparency, accountability and meritocracy. Country have great resources and great brains, but only if the ground is levelled and corrupt-free can greater improvements be made. People minds are generally positive and want change. The people are not destructive, so many will think for a better tomorrow.

Mahathir is playing his last trump card by appealing to our Malaysian sense of patriotism and nationalism and by trying to whip up anti-Singaporean sentiments. This is clear from his first sentence on the subject as well as his last sentence as found in his blog posting on April 20 on ‘The Crooked Bridge'. http://www.malaysiakini.com/letters/102867
