Is it more prudent for Asia to stop beholding the Western World as their elder brothers who now walk with limp to set good examples for our economies and industries?
People will treat with respect any government well run
and kick the behinds of those swaggering yet underperforming. This is a natural tendency and
I believe in the not too distant future the focus of our
eyes will be more towards the happenings of the
East than those of the West. When such days dawn
in Singapore and Asia, we will no longer need to wake up
in the morning and ask, how was the Dow Jones last night? Instead we will ask, where should our market head today in view of last nights events in China and Japan?
time to buy dragon shares !!
STI should in fact track SSE as China now is the world's richest country instead of tracking DOW (now world's poorest, debtor country, lost its once mighty power) and Hang Seng.
China now call the shots, saw the TV ad, all other credit card not accepted except "China "Great Wall" card, the implications is already written on the wall.
Dun b surprise, the redheads in future have to work in China as maid, the wind direction has changed.

Latest news: more than 10 thousand people died.... God bless Chinese, let's pray for them.
I thought the earthquake struck at 2.28pm Beijing Time (0628GMT).
Anyway, the news on AFX came out around 1447hrs, so more or less factored into the SSE close. In any case, SSE must not go below 3565 regardless of the earthquake event. Else it's a sell in Shanghai.
earthquake struck in sometime in the morning;
sse index and ftse-china index ended today with modest gains after earthquake already passed... so markets already answered.
olympics provide an excellent platform for chinese companies to become known to the outside world (call it branding). So in the long run, it should benefit some strong chinese companies and others up-and-coming wannabes. And then in2010, there is the Shanghai World Expo, more brand building for chinese companies to showcase their capabilities.
(I am bull on chinese companies just that it is damn hard for sgx to get the best ones to list here...... sighhh....)
will olympics spur SSE to greater heights?
will the earthquake affect SSE?
