stock012, it is confirmed that we cannot use CPF OA or SA to buy this.. and I have withdrawn from this order this morning, (with no charge, because I withdrawn at 8.40 am this morning)..

But again, this time, I see carefully what is entitled for CPF OA purchase.. I followed our Mr. Jim Roger, I bought Lion Capital China Growth Fund, sale charge 2% from POEMs.... Cheers... now this is really diversified..... China, India, Asia .... if all of them "drop" after 30 years, I have nothing to say... Cheers!

For those hard core poor and poventy trap, the mean to top to a mininum of 20,000, a big problem here. here is one solution a dollar to match a dollar from charity institution and multi-millionaires philanthropist (Tax free) and govern by a board of governors for retired funded fund, those who age hit 55 can then wish so, can apply for topping up to $8,000. EG no-1. If one hitting 55 have only $4k, retired funded fund can top up $4k. EG no-2, if one hit 55 of age and have only $1k to look forward in his/her CPF a/c, retired funded fund can top $4k, it mean only to help those beyond their mean to top. This is also a way to assist those that reach 55 years old and also before taking all out their life saving, a few thousand of available dollar to spend.

teeth53      ( Date: 22-Mar-2008 21:12) Posted:

I mean gov can afford to top up, up to $4,000. What about those who can't afford, they just don't have that kind of $$$ or cent to so within their mean, some may only have a few hundred dollars in their CPF a/c for retirement. Are they going tobe remain as what they are....?.

Hi pple, i have a query, hopefully someone can help. I duno if the CPF or my investment acct pple advise correctly. When we sell shares bought using money from CPF, the money is credited into the investment acct and automatically transferred back to CPF is there is no tranaction for 2 months right? My Q is can i reinvest the proceed? Or do i have to transfer the amount back to CPF before i can transfer the money out to invest again? The last time i sold some shares (last year), my allowable share limit did not increase after the sales. I called up the investment bank, they said the money is in the investment acct but i can't use the $. I have to transfer the $ back to CPF for CPF to register and increase the limit. Isit this a silly and time wasting move? By doing so, i'll have incurr transfer fees plus when the amt goes back to CPF (about 10K) my limit is increase by only hundreds and not that 10K as CPF is taking that as a contribution thus only a certain percent of the 10K is allowed to be invested in equities.

hey, stock012, you might be right.. i double check the fund, I click SRS-IA , and I need to check with POEM of that definition... jia lat.. worst case I need to pay cash... anyway, will see how, or I still can withdrawn within 3 days, and as long as the price is up, I will not get charged for service fees. (that's what they told me last week)

oh dear.. how can I make this big mistake...

LesBleus, I think either one is fine, u may check their charges, I think fundsupermarket is not too bad.

I am POEMS user, so, to make things easy, I buy units trust through POEMS too. I think you have to do it on Monday , what I heard is, they need few days to process the application, u definitely can't buy on March 30, that's too late.. so, if you want to buy, you should do it now.

Lion Capital Vietname fund is quite a new fund launched in March 2007 at price of 1.00..

Of course the fund price movement is largely affected by Ho Chi Minh Stock Index. It has been dropping from high 1,100 points to 560 points now.. breaking the important 600 support points. well, I just on the queue to buy on Friday night, so I shall get it done by next Monday.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/cbuilder?ticker1=VNINDEX:IND

This is the price movement of Lion Capital Vietnam funds from 1 dollar drop to 0.655.. you might say in short term it mgiht drop, but hey, we are talking after 30 years ! You should be aware, China and India is no longer cheap labour market, many firms are moving to Vietname or other Emerging country, I am super optimistic about Vietname, not to mention, Keppel Land, Capitaland are all moving into their properties caseshow... this baby will rise, sleep well.

You are very lucky. Can retire at age of 57.

Investor, yes tranferring OA to SA is irreverible. As what Farm said was true, once your SA or RA is max then you can use your extra OA, if you still working after retirement and you are holding plenty of cash, to do investment or even to top up your love's one OA to earn the hefty interest.

AK now is already a senior citizen, coming 30 Mar my 57's birthday leow. I didn't aim for luxurious retirement's life, but simple and easy go luck enough already, esp meeting with you all in this forum, its a my great pleasure.

BTW, AK is under Pension Scheme, my son's mother and I are currently eligible for free medical service. I didn't take the monthly Pension pay but I took the lump sum. I decided that owing to money will depreciate along the way, hence the decision was right.

Agree with leecl1975 & AK Francis to a certain extend. CPF are largely for your housing/retirement. Unless these two needs are fulfill( meaning housing loan fully pay-up & SA top-up to max), members should think twice about using CPF to invest just in case. It's adviceable to use your spare cash/saving instead for stock /other high risk investment.

Anyway, ones overall financial planing portfolio should have included property & bonds too, thus, what's better than using your CPF to accomplish that?

Yes, I use to think like you before. Managed to get some handsome return with India and China Fund, but nowadays i become more careful with my investment. Maybe getting old liao.Smiley

""CPF money is the best to invest, firstly, you can't take it out anyway.. so, u got such a long time frame to hold." I agree with that. But after study my investment portfolio, i decided to leave min 60K in SA/OA. They are the best place to park my conservative portion of my portfolio.

Can I depend on historically return? Will there be another 1929 depression? Can i meet the min CPF sum at 65? 100% into equity? Investment goal? Withdraw/loan CPF for Housing ?

After asking myself these Qns,  I got less guts to go for glory. You are properly  right in your prediction as history is on your side. I just want to be on the safe side and have a comfortable retirement as my investment goal.Smiley

leecl1975, I don't know how old are u, perhaps u are 33 years old now.. well, for me at age 28, I give it 30 years, I don't think my returns is only pathetic 3.5% compound interest... ask your parents, if they buy any stocks 30 years ago, and look at the price now... CPF money is the best to invest, firstly, you can't take it out anyway.. so, u got such a long time frame to hold..

well, for my case, i invest in india, asia, and vietnam, and i am eager to see after 30 years, what is the percentage COULD BE ! think twice !! of course, you can invest in china, emerging country, gold, or even stocks, it is the same theory. but i prefer the above 3 I mention..

oh yeah, i don't have to say 30 years, you just look at india for the past 5 years performance, and tell me what is the percentage gain, don't tell me after 30 years, it would be still the same, that's joke.

But money transferred from OA to SA is irreversible

AK_Francis      ( Date: 21-Mar-2008 23:16) Posted:

CPF currently is the best Bank in Spore, it offers 2.5 and 4 % interest rate, with constraint but good for citizens.

OA account can be used for investment. But if you not so sure how to invest then I advise you to  transfer max allowable SA account to earn 4% interest rate instead to park at OA to get 2.5%. Since last few yrs I hv advised my colleagues to do so, they did, in SingPass.

If you have plenty of cash and don't know how to do with it, then, if you are a filiar son/daughter, then top up your parents, uncles/aunties SA or even Retirement Account(RA) to earn the 4% interest.

Nowadays, the prime rate is lower than 1.5% for FD, less Maybank which offering senior citizen extara 0..25% rate.
