Hi TerenceFok,

BI = Buying in only; you can find the meaning of all the abbreviations in the SGX website at the bottom of the screen when you look at stock prices.

E.g look at SingtelSGAeCW080317; it'll expire by 17 Mar, no more selling is allowed on the market. Hence the 'BI' symbol.

hey CWquah, yeps, normally when i pick out warrants, i'll id strangles--ie, both puts and calls. but will only choose to enter one. had entered and locked out the mar and april puts last week. this time, i've choosen an end april and may warrant. the mar one is too dangerous alr. thanks for the warning; will keep it in mind. good luck trading! :)

hi terence, not quite sure about BI symbol. which broker are you using? or do you mean the timing?

Can anyone enlighten me? What does it mean when there is a symbol BI (buying-in) next to a counter? Why is it that there is totally no queue at all during BI time, based on what I observed? Thanks a million for any replies.

Been very tied up with a course recently; Anyway, it looks like a massive mkt consolidation is still ongoing (2800-2900) range.

Dunno which side mkt will breakout though; so be very careful. A lot of mkt sentiment with declining volumes - so I suppose most of the small players are on sidelines; majority players are day traders/hedge funds/institutions.

For Elfin,

I think U're using the right strategy to trade in the current mkt conditions (small amts of put warrants, not sure if U tried calls). But I think it's better to avoid using warrants whose expiry dates are in the same month of your trade. Time decay and volatility will not be on your side. Best to stick to Apr 08 warrants for now.

Also, do note that warrants expiring by say 28 Mar, become impossible to trade one week b4 expiry (21 Mar), only buying in is allowed (to prevent shortselling of warrants too close to expiry as these cannot be bought back in by SGX after their expiry since they cease to exist). So don't get caught.

I will give lousis_leecs the benefit of doubts.  Though yzj did not go up much, the market did rally and sgx did make a reversal.  Other seniors did advise to wait and see before bottom fish.  So, individuals have to take own risk.  Like what Fairygal said, zhun or not, still have to observe and make own analysis.

Let's not be too harsh on lousis_leecs (not forgetting that people did cheer when market rallied that day).

In this forum, some will be zhun sometimes, some will be zhun most of the times, and some will not be zhun at all. It's your money, do your homework before you commit. If these people really 100% zhun, they no need to come here to this forum le. We all read and take note, and observe the trend, do our own analysis. At the end of the day, we are responsible for our own action, whether there's profit or losses.  I have to say that I learnt a lot here in this forum, not just about shares, but human psychology as well. So people, please trade cautiously, be responsible, and let this forum be a nice place where we can all exchange opinion constructively.

Well, i hope this time, the facts have proven themselves right. STI is currently down 42 pts, dow was down 46 pts last night, and dow futures are down too. Meanwhile, gold and oil are shooting through the roof. NYMEX crude traded at US$109.92.

The 400 pt DJIA rally was a massive short covering by the BBs there, who reacted to news of the 200 bil lending programme and fears that there may be an unanticipated rate cut before Mar 18. Read para 6 of the article linked: http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/12/markets/markets_wrap/index.htm

Meanwhile: my own posts on the SGX thread, as well as various posts in this thread, by myself, and other forumers--who got negative ratings for stating their opinion? C'mon, people, don't be so easily taken for a ride.

china stocks and CPO plays: current prices: yzj 91c. cosco 3.19. yanlord 2.1. ferrochina 1.15. firstres 93c. indoagri 2.18. goldenagri 94.5. Go see the charts, what they were just in Jan.

Follow the trend. Above all else.

just a neutral observation that in this thread, those who posted contrary to louis leecs all got negative ratings.

the rally yesterday was hardly a surprise: there would have been a rally before the Fed cut, as people buy on rumor and sell on news. The surprise is that the rally started earlier than necessary for a real rebound.
