Shorting could be very rewarding and of course, comes with risks. As in all investments, the higher the risks, the higher the rewards.

As I've often said that shorting is not for everyone. If you think you've what it takes to do it. My suggestion is you go for a short course and have a talk with your Broker and see what options he could offer you according to your 'comfort zone'.

Maybe you could give a go at CFD as mentioned by robbieczh. Best of luck! Cheers!

and naked shorting is not really that dangerous, provided you cover back your position on the same day.

people tend to get the impression that it is dangerous, but think about it.

When you're playing intraday, going long can be as dangerous as going short when prices go against you.

Ultimately, it all boils down on the discipline to cut your losses if you're wrong about a trade.

And for those looking to hold onto a short position, CFD is tool you should use.

Not entirely true. SGX's rule is T+3.

You are getting T+4 because your broker paid to SGX on your behalf first, and then get the money from you.

For me, I usually pay up only after T+5. It really depends on your broker, but the "rule" is still T+3.

Mkt is practising T + 4 if you use EPS (electronic share payment - vis ATM or Internet Banking).

If you use cash management a/c or giro, then on T + 3 broker will deduct yr $ from yr cash mgmt a/c or bank.

Force selling by broker is T + 5 at 2pm

Naked Shorting is a damn dangerous thing to do. It is very risky and has killed many traders.... with the exception of our nickyng - a shorting king. Hahaha..

Hi bro,

I have 2 questions regarding Contra & Short, hopefully anybody can help to clear my doubt:

(1) Let's say, I bought a share on Monday using DBSVONLINE or UOBKayHian. And the due date for settlement is T+3 which will fall on Thursday. If I plan take the CONTRA gain or loss, when is the last day I can sell the relevant share? Is it Wednesday or Thursday?

(2) If I would like to short naked using DBSVONLINE or UOBKayHian, which sell order should I use to short? "SELL" or "SELL CONTRA"?

Hope you guys can clear my doubts.. thanks in advance..
