ultrameg. I trade with Lim and Tan too and they will take some time to adjust your trading limit in permanent basis.
Hence, another way is to call them directly and ask for temporary trading limit increase.
Alternatively, which is what I'm doing as well, I have a few trading account with different securities. This is also in case one site is down or extremely slow, which may resulted in lost opportunity.
Just be careful about increasing your buy limit. When you make profits, your buy limit will automatically increase for margin account.
Thanks for all the faithful guidance. I will shoot my CDP statement to Lim and Tan first tomorrow morning
Hallo ultrameg. I'm using POEMS. Once I got problem with the limit, but then I increased my limit, by calling them.
Increase your trading limit, you should be very considerable. Don't be greed, calculate your own risk know how much money you can loss. Look at you trading behavior, which level (max) counter price you dare to play. Then how many lots you dare to play. Finally multiply by three (total money), that is the ideal number for your limit.
Remember to design your trading strategy, so you won't face any limit issue.
Ultrameg, I had the same experience and mine is also a online trading account. I called the securites firm to temporary increase my limit and follow up with my latest CDP statement. I think it is advisable to have another online trading account with other securites firm as the system will hang or lag during heavy trading vol.
Actually, I am not trading BIG. Just to give you an actual case that happens on monday.
In the morning before trading starts, I queue to sell A shares, amount to $43 k and queue to sell B shares, amount to $25 k
However, I was not allowed to sell away B shares because it is over the sell limit of $45k.
Since I am away on Mon, I can't monitor FULL time. Hence, I had lost the opportunity to sell all at one go
UltraMeg... :)
Increasing one's trading limit may not be a good thing.
On the other hand, with an imposed trading ceiling, one is forced to trade well rather than trade big.
And trading big is often the reason for most people's woes and desperation...
Hope you will just improve your trading skills and make money consistently rather than 'hit it big'..

I had sent them an email, they requested me to send my latest CDP statement for considersations. Since I opened only a online trading account, so i presumes I don't have a broker.
Speak to your broker. Mine from POEMS increase my limit after the request.
I have an account with Lim and Tan securities. My buying limit is $30K and selling limit is $45K. Can any good souls teach me how to go about in increasing the limit?
