Sesdaq still holding out well, dropped by a few pts only. Seems like penny stocks had already hit bottom with strong support by buyers at current prices

Hi august,

I don't think TA can be applied to BH global accurately. Just take a look at its volume chart. Between mid June to August, check out the unusally large volumes on the counter. After August, the volume thinned out and the price is now pretty stagnant. I believe it will be moving in a narrow band for the time being. My time frame is very short - only around 2-4 weeks.

Thanks Singaporegal,

one question. I have been eyeing at BH global. Fiancially looks solid ; and I am thinking of focusing on this stock in my future collection.. keep building my portfolio with this stock. What is your take on it's TA ? Does it looks healthy enough for you ? I know you do not look at TA for penny stocks.. but since this is a 60+ cents stock.. it may not be very penny ?! Your thots. Thanks,

Penny stocks are popular in a bull market because many new traders view them as a cheap and easy way to make money. Small changes in price give rise to large returns.

However, after a correction, these same stocks will usually also be the ones that hurt the most.

Was using shareinvestor.com to check on the price / vol movement on a daily basis for star tech. Everyday got buyers and sellers selling 1(single digit) lot kind of trading. Usually sold below / above open price. Seems like they are trying to create confusion in some counters to benefit from the spread.

sohguanh, fyi i also contra'ed OCBC and yongnam this morning and SPC yesterday for coffee $$$ Smiley

So,yes. Contra and short is not only exclusively for penny stock.

If you look at my earlier post, what I said was penny stocks "are contraian and shortists favourite", not exclusive.

Pinnacle: nickyng our SJ resident shortist would have given you an inkling on the stock he short. he does not explicitly target penny stock. sometimes he post abt targetting blue chip stocks. so yes penny stock do have a large base of contra and shortist but that title is not bestowed purely upon penny as the blue chip do have it's fair share of contra and shortist too. a more clearer picture would be wait for nickyng to post on wat criteria does he employ before he decide to short a stock. words from the real life shortist is better than me a armchair critic who got no guts to short and contra yet :)

sohguanh, I do agreed with you that volume is the critical to look at for contra and short.

However, normally penny is the one with high volume.

Just look at the top 20 volume counters now. More than 80% are penny stocks.

Of cos with so many small counters around there are many penny counters that has low volume and do not attract attention.

Pinnacle: I beg to differ. Contra and shortist look for counters with high volume. Whether the counter is penny or blue chip does not matter. It juz happen penny being cheap have more players but there are low volume penny counter like Azeus which I doubt there are contra or shortist playing.

Conclusion: If a counter has a lot of players playing, contra and shortist will come in. The counter status i.e penny or blue chip does not matter that much. Volume volume and more volume is what attract them.

Statistic proved that in the long run, blue chips will give you better return.

Unless you have some insider information on certain penny stocks that is going to cheong, else, penny stocks always goes up and down equally fast. They are contraian and shortists favourite.

I think people are generally more cautious, but there will still be some who wants to cheong with the market and recover whatever they lost....That could be one mentality, I am not sure. I try not to myself. Funds also stuck in penny stock. Praying hard for my counters to cheong, settle them before I plunge into others, no matter how attractive they are now.  I can't imagine if history repeat itself.

At currently time, price has gone up a fair bit compared to the time when the market just opened.  I miss my boat, so I will wait.

All the best to all.  Make lots of  $$$ today!
