hi harry, can explain exactly how the cfd works? i have heard of it but not sure how to carry it out. i have poems account but cfd need to set up special account of some sort right? is it true that cfd is able to allow for up to 30 days "short sell" or is it "contra"? thanks lots =)

Hi Reisspoh,
Let me try to answer your Q on Poems CFD.
- To activate your CFD, you just need to sign a form, call ur broker/remisier. '
- And, there is a minimum deposit to start using ur account, I believe it is still standing at S$3k and it offer a leverage of x 5times.
- The buying / selling is the same as of normal trading. Go under CFD, click on the allowable counter, and just normal procedure as for your shares. And it is base on current market bid/ask rather than Queuing.

Can be use both for 'longing' or 'shorting'.
- The contract is for infinite with auto-roll over at the end of the contracts 30th day. However, I do not advise auto-roll over due to charges incured.

- Also note that, CFD had no price impact, it is for timing purpose. It is not shown in the trade sales for your purchase counter.

Hope it helps.

Good time to use CFD account to sell high first and buy low later.... remember to use CFD, repeat CFD account for this mode of operation.

Look deep within oneself and keep the greed under control constantly...... and the market will be empty of any fearful beast.....Smiley

May all be well...

Haha.....as usual lah.. Blue Mondays everytimes , but this time round could be blue-black for many! Wait until you see the Big Funds start to pull-out. In a way,  this is good for the Market and the rule of the jungle applied - the fittest survived, always!

Thanks for the warning, winsontkl. I think you could still  benefit  from the smaller cycles of bull-bear-swings. You have to be on your toes, though!  And don't forget the Nat'l Day RallySmiley Cheers!

................All said, the Market has to get worse before it can be better......... In between there have to be some bull-bear-cycle-swings and one huge swing from Mr Bear will wipe out billions from the Market...............................How long it takes for the Market to recover is anybody guess........It is time then to choose and pick if you still have enough cash or try to find more buckets! Cheers!

Right on ten4one, we had been on secular bull run for the past 4 years, is the party all?????

Well, if most investors are still as positive, with positive economic growth and US problems is not contagious, the long term do look intact. We can still ride out as in Feburary downturn cause by China.

But if most investors negative moods is turn on, don't even have to think what is the final outcome....

Self-fulfilling prophecy is not necessary gloom and doom in the early stage of a bull-market-cycle. It is only at the last stage of the bull cycle which would cause 'problems' to these Investors who choose only to hear the good things of their own and ignore all other facts & numbers. If you keep on filling the buckets and if you don't find  new buckets to fill, the water will overflow. To prevent the overflow, you either find more buckets or stop the TAP. The problem is where to find more new buckets???????????

Never forget that the Stock Market have a life cycle of its own! Cheers! The long term trend maybe intact now.............but a huge correction in the Financial Markets could change all that....and that long term trend could become really really long. Cheers and a Happy National Day!

It's not all gloom and doom in this context, basically, look at hard facts. Globally, most market is breaking new high and setting new record. Be practical, everydays up and defy the forces of gravity??? What goes Up will come Down, simple as that.

Over here, don't you think that the cycle we are going thru is a repetition of the past???

During the Dot Com period, optimism fills the air and you can out right hear people proclaiming we are in the new era, old ways of mearsurement is out, what happened, down all the way after the burst!!

Well, that's spice up the "fun" in the market. Remember someone wrote at CNA that he made the most of a worse FA & TA counter by buying a lot at 2 to 3 cents which went up drastically to 30 cents and above during the run. Irony isn't it, those proclaim expert cannot beat that kind of returns but all I say is as if going to casino and playing BIG or SMALL, needs lot of luck though....

You don't have to look far to confirm the self-fulfiling prophecy market in action. Even in this forum, there're 'blind' investors who think that the ballon will keep rising no matter what happen 'cos they only see the ballon and are floating on cloud-nine.

When hot air rises, it expands and at some points, the ballon has to descent or it simply burst! Simple as that, Cheers!

Reflecting back, think the market trend is basically riding on self-fulling prophecy.

Two/Three years ago, the prospect were improving and everyone got on the bullish note. STI breaks and set new record one after another. The sky is the limit.....

Then when we reach a certain heights, treading new territories, fears starts to grow. Every new heights make one feels like crawling up the wall....however, no one would like to let go and miss the party - GREED.

Fear starts to engulf and caution starts to build, a slight setback, all fundamentals analysis which were used for their decision to go in suddenly were replaced by FEARS and thrown out of the window. Panic starts and all rushing out the exit irregardless of profit or loss with the only thinking - Capital preservation or for contra player, limit their loss from snowballing.

So Up or Down seems to be dictated by emotional feeling and overblown expectation..... what a joke.
