Global M&A volume a record $2.88 trillion in first

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Global mergers and acquisitions volume surged to $2.88 trillion in the first half of 2007 up 55% from the same period a year ago, according to Dealogic. A 133% increase in financial sponsor-led buyouts fueled the increase and M&A in the U.S. surged past $1 trillion, a 75% increase above the same period last year. The average deal size rose 58% to $298 million. Wall Street advisors collected $11.2 billion in fees during the period, a 23% increase
