"The Monkey Story:

A trader and his manager went to a village to buy life monkeys. He passed word round that he would pay $5.00 for each monkey handed in. All the villagers caught and handed in hundreds of monkeys during the next few days. He kept them all in a large cage. When the harvest started to taper off, the trader increased the price of each monkey to $10.00 each. A lot of monkeys were handed in again. When the monkey numbers dwindled, the trader increased the price of the monkeys to $20.00 each. After a few days, the villagers reported that there were no more monkeys.

The trader then announced to the villagers that he would pay $100.00 for each monkey handed in to his manager. He then left the village.

The manager passed word round that he would help the viallers to make money by selling the monkeys caught previously back to them at $50.00 each so that they can resell to the trader for $100.00 each when he comes back.

Soon, all the stock of monkeys were completely sold to the villagers. The manager announced that he would go to the town to get the trader to return for his monkeys. They never see the manager nor the trader again.  "

I believe this story was concoted by an equities trader.

The funny thing is that this story is played all over again everyday in the stock market.

I suppose Moore's theory is meant to point out that those very rich peoples' wealth are obtained by at least one method that is not ethical.

You can perhaps use it to explain why some share prices are suddenly shooting up with very high volumes without any changes to the underlying fundamentals, exactly like the monkey story that has been going round in the internet.

Moore's Law states:

Behind every great fortune, there is a crime.

How true!
